# WhipScribe for AI agents

An AI agent acting for a person can take WhipScribe from nothing to a working, paid transcription API: read the docs, open the right pack at checkout, create an API key and make the calls. Two steps need the person: the 6-digit sign-up code sent to their inbox (or their Google sign-in) and the payment itself. API access comes with the 5,000-minute pack ($24) or the Workspace plan ($19/month); credits never expire.

## What an agent can do

- Transcribe a link or file in a browser and read the free preview and summary with no account (the site asks for an email address to send it to).
- Open checkout with the right pack already selected, and fill in everything except the payment.
- Sign in to an existing account with email and password.
- Create, name, rotate and revoke API keys in the signed-in workspace.
- Submit links and files, poll jobs, download TXT, DOCX, SRT, VTT or JSON, and read the summary.
- Check the balance (GET /v1/credits), notice a locked transcript, and send the person the top-up link.

## What needs a person

- Creating the account: sign-in is Google, or an email address plus a 6-digit code sent to that inbox. An agent with no access to the inbox has to ask the person for the code.
- Paying: the checkout asks for a card or PayPal. The person enters those details or approves the payment; an agent should hand this step over, not type card numbers.
- Keeping the key: an API key is shown once, when it is created. Whoever creates it stores it; nobody can look it up later.

## Limits

- Files up to 10 hours or 5 GB each; 99+ languages, detected automatically.
- 60 API requests a minute per account; up to 10 active keys.
- No free API tier. API access comes with the 5,000-minute pack ($24) or the Workspace plan ($19/month); the same balance serves the website and the API.
- No account, key or purchase can be created by a bare API call. Those happen in the browser.
- Recorded audio and video only; live captioning of a call in progress is not offered.

## Questions

**Can an AI agent buy WhipScribe credit on its own?**
It can get all the way to the payment screen: the pack links open checkout with the pack selected. The card or PayPal step is entered or approved by the person.

**Can an AI agent sign up for WhipScribe on its own?**
Yes if it can read the inbox of the address it signs up with, because email sign-up is confirmed by a 6-digit code. Otherwise the person supplies the code or signs in with Google.

**What is the cheapest way for an agent to start?**
