Privacy Policy

This policy describes how Neugence Technology Pvt. Ltd. handles information when you use Whipscribe. It covers both the Whipscribe website / web app at whipscribe.com and the Whipscribe Chrome extension.

Whipscribe web service (whipscribe.com)

What we collect

• Audio and video you submit — either uploaded directly, or fetched from a URL you provide.
• Transcripts we generate from your submissions.
• Basic request metadata — IP address, user agent, timestamps — for operational logging and abuse prevention.
• Email address (optional) — if you top up prepaid credits or link your balance across devices, your email is stored and used to look up your balance.

You don't need an account to use the free tier.

How we use it

Your submissions are used to produce your transcript and make it available to you. Request metadata is used to operate and secure the service. Your email, if provided, is used only to associate prepaid credits with you.

How long we keep it

• Audio and video you submit: kept for up to 7 days after the job completes (so you can play it back alongside the transcript), then automatically deleted.
• Generated transcripts: kept as long as you need to retrieve them. Deleting a job from your dashboard removes both the transcript and any remaining audio from our servers.

You can request earlier deletion at any time by emailing contact@neugence.ai with the job IDs involved, or by deleting the job from the dashboard.

Who processes your data

Processing runs on infrastructure operated by Neugence. We do not sell your data or share it with third parties for marketing.

Cookies and analytics

Whipscribe uses your browser's local storage to remember jobs you've submitted, your email (for credit top-ups), and your preferences. This data stays on your device.

We also use two third-party analytics services to understand how people use the site:

• Google Analytics (GA4) — aggregate page-view and session-length measurement. IP addresses are anonymised. We don't use Google's advertising-personalisation features.
• Mouseflow — anonymised session replays and heatmaps to spot UX problems. Mouseflow automatically redacts form inputs; we never record the audio or transcripts you submit.

Neither service receives your audio, your transcripts, or your paid account balance. You'll see a small notice at the bottom of the screen on your first visit; click OK to dismiss it.

We don't use advertising or retargeting cookies and we don't sell your data. If you want to opt out of analytics entirely, browser-level tracker blockers (uBlock Origin, Ghostery, Brave Shields, Safari's Cross-Site Tracking Prevention) all work — we don't circumvent them.

Whipscribe Chrome extension

The Whipscribe Chrome extension records audio — either from your current browser tab or from your microphone — when you explicitly click Record tab audio or Record microphone in the extension popup. Recording stops only when you click Stop.

What data is collected

• Audio you record. When you press Stop, the recorded audio is uploaded to a transcription backend. The destination backend URL is configurable in the extension's Options page; the default is https://whipscribe.com.
• Email address (optional). If you link your Whipscribe credit balance inside the extension, the email you enter is stored via chrome.storage.sync and is sent to the credits backend at https://applyjobs.ai to look up your balance. You can leave this empty; all recording features work without it.
• Whipscribe guest token (optional). If present in the Whipscribe web app's localStorage, it is mirrored into chrome.storage.sync when you visit whipscribe.com, and is sent alongside the email to authenticate credit queries. It is an anonymous identifier — not a password.
• Extension settings. Backend URL, optional API key, language, diarization and timestamp preferences are stored via chrome.storage.sync so they follow your Chrome profile.
• The current in-flight job ID and last transcript. Stored in chrome.storage.local so the popup can resume a job after being closed and so the most recent transcript is still available when you re-open the popup. Both stay on your device.

What data is NOT collected

• No passive background recording. The extension does not record, listen, or capture anything unless you click a Record button.
• No tracking, analytics, or telemetry of any kind.
• No personally identifying information beyond the optional email and anything you voluntarily include in recorded audio.

How recorded audio is used

Uploaded audio is processed by the configured backend to produce a transcript, which is returned to the extension and displayed in the popup. Whether and how the backend retains, stores, or further processes the audio is determined by that backend's operator and policies — not by this extension. If you use the default backend (https://whipscribe.com, operated by Neugence Technology Pvt. Ltd.), retention follows the "How long we keep it" section above.

Third-party services used by the extension

• Default transcription backend (whipscribe.com) — owned and operated by Neugence Technology Pvt. Ltd. The extension sends it audio files over HTTPS.
• Credits backend (applyjobs.ai) — the payment / credits service operated by the same publisher. Receives only the optional email you link and, if present, the guest token, to return your prepaid hour balance.
• Chrome Sync / Chrome Local Storage — standard browser-managed storage, subject to Google's own policies.

Send-to integrations (you-initiated)

When you click the "Send to ChatGPT / Claude / Gemini / Perplexity / Google Docs / Obsidian" buttons in the Done view, the extension opens a new tab at the destination and either passes the transcript as a URL query parameter (ChatGPT, Claude, Perplexity) or copies it to your clipboard for you to paste (Gemini, Google Docs, Obsidian). Data sent to those destinations is handled by their own privacy policies, not this extension's. Nothing is sent until you click one of those buttons.

Your choices

• Don't record. The extension does nothing if you never click a Record button.
• Point it at your own backend. The Options page lets you configure any base URL; your audio will then be sent only there.
• Uninstall at any time. Removing the extension deletes all locally stored settings.
