How it works
No need to download the episode yourself.
In Apple Podcasts, open the episode (not just the show), choose Share, then Copy Link. Episode links contain ?i= followed by a number.
The episode's audio is found through the show's public feed and transcribed, with word-level timestamps.
Click a timestamp to hear a line, search for a topic, then download TXT, DOCX, SRT, VTT or JSON. Transcripts stay in your library.
Episode link or show link
Both kinds of Apple Podcasts link work, but they do different things.
A link copied from an individual episode includes ?i= and a number. That identifies the exact episode, and that episode is what gets transcribed.
A link to the show page has no episode number, so the most recent episode in the show's feed is transcribed. If you want an older episode, copy that episode's own link.
Some shows do not publish a public feed, or their feed has no downloadable episodes. You will see a message; paste the episode's direct MP3 link, or download the episode and upload the file.
The Apple Podcasts app shows transcripts for some shows, which is handy for reading along. A Whipscribe transcript adds timestamps, exports and a copy in your own library.
What people use it for
Publishing your own show? Transcribe a podcast covers show notes and captions, and podcast transcript covers other podcast apps and feeds.
Search the transcript for a word, click the timestamp, and hear exactly how it was said before you share or cite it.
Turn a long interview episode into text you can annotate, with timestamps that point back to the audio.
Paste your latest episode link to get show notes material and SRT or VTT captions for clips, without exporting the audio first.
A transcript for your own reading and research is one thing; republishing someone else's episode text is another. Ask the show before posting their words at length, and credit them when you quote.
