The problem

New South Wales runs the country's largest metro radio and television market in Sydney, alongside regional networks stretching from the Hunter and Illawarra to the Central West, the Riverina, and the far north coast. Across all of it, as-broadcast recordings pile up as raw audio nobody can search, so complaint response and content review are slow.

How Whipscribe helps

Whipscribe turns your as-broadcast recordings into timestamped, speaker-labelled, fully searchable text, so a complaint or a content-review job takes minutes instead of an afternoon of scrubbing tape — with the audio staying on infrastructure you control.

Metro and regional, one workflow

The same fast, private transcription from a Sydney metro newsroom to a regional network across the state.

Answer complaints fast

Search the transcript for the words a complaint is about and jump to the exact moment, instead of scrubbing hours of logger audio.

Repurpose local coverage

Turn interviews and local news into web pages that pull in regional search traffic across NSW.

Private by design

Self-hosted Whisper means your programming is never handed to a third-party AI service.

Questions

What are the retention rules?

Australian broadcasters have recording-retention obligations under the ACMA codes — generally at least six weeks, and longer while a complaint is unresolved. See our Australia compliance guide for detail, and confirm your current licence conditions and code. This is general information, not legal advice.

Does it work for both metro and regional stations?

Yes — the same workflow handles a Sydney metro operation and a regional NSW network; there's no per-seat fee and no length cap.

Where is the audio processed?

On private infrastructure with open-source Whisper — never sent to OpenAI, Google, or any external transcription service, and never used to train models.

Note: Whipscribe is a transcription tool that makes recordings searchable; it complements your recording and retention systems, it does not replace them, and nothing here is legal advice. Confirm your current obligations with your licence conditions and the applicable code.
