The honest read: raw developer APIs are cheaper per minute than our packs. With them you pay by the minute and build the uploader,
storage, speaker labels and viewer yourself, and your audio goes to that vendor. Whipscribe is the finished product at roughly the same
per-minute rate as OpenAI's API, with speakers, clips and chat included, credits that never expire, and audio that stays on our private cloud.
The meeting-notes apps bill monthly whether you use the minutes or not. Google Speech-to-Text isn't listed because we couldn't read its
pricing page on the check date, and we don't print numbers we haven't verified.
Questions
How does Whipscribe compare to OpenAI, Deepgram, AssemblyAI, Otter or Rev?
On price per minute, raw developer APIs win: Deepgram is about $0.26 an hour, AssemblyAI $0.21, OpenAI’s transcription API and Amazon Transcribe $0.36 — the same $0.006/min as our $12 pack. What you get from them is minutes; you build the uploading, storage, speaker labels and reading experience, and your audio goes to that vendor. Whipscribe is the finished product: paste a URL or drop a file with no account, speaker labels included, clips and Claude chat on every transcript, an API and MCP server on the same credits, and audio that stays on our private cloud and is never sent to OpenAI or any third-party AI. Meeting-notes apps like Otter ($16.99/mo for 1,200 minutes) and Rev ($25.49/mo for 5,000) bill monthly whether you use the minutes or not; our packs never expire. Figures are list prices read from each vendor’s pricing page on 5 September 2026 — the comparison above links to every source.
Is my Claude chat private?
Yes. Your conversation is saved to your account, so you can close the tab and pick it up later, on any device. It is deleted when you delete the transcript, and when you delete your account. Only the transcript text and your messages go to Anthropic, per request, and Anthropic does not train on them. Your audio never leaves our servers.
Do credits expire?
Pack credits never expire — buy a pack today, use it a year from now, same minutes. Plan minutes roll over while you’re subscribed (you can bank up to 3× your monthly allowance); if a plan lapses, remaining plan minutes stay usable for 90 days.
Is this a subscription?
No. Every pack is a one-time payment and the credits never
expire — use them this week or next year. Nothing renews unless you buy
again. The yearly option inside the Pro and Team cards is also a single
payment, just a bigger pack at a better rate.
What happens to my transcripts and audio?
Paid accounts: your library — transcripts, original audio, exports — is maintained for as long as you have credits or an active plan, and for 12 months after. Free accounts: we don’t warehouse data you’ve walked away from — files auto-delete 90 days after your last activity. We email you twice before anything is removed, and simply signing in resets the clock. Private by design, both ways.
Is there a subscription or auto-renew?
No auto-renew, ever. Packs are a one-time payment. The yearly plan is also a single payment — you pay once for the year and 2,000 (or 5,000) fresh minutes are added to your account each month. No card-on-file, no surprise charges; when the year ends, renewing is your choice.
How does the yearly plan work?
One payment covers 12 months. Your first 2,000 minutes (5,000 on Team) land immediately, and a fresh batch is added every month — unused plan minutes roll over, up to 3× your monthly allowance. That works out to $8/month on Pro — a third less than paying monthly.
Do you train AI on my audio?
Never. We don't use your recordings or transcripts to train, fine-tune, or evaluate any AI model — ours or anyone else's. Transcription runs on Neugence-owned GPUs; nothing is sent to OpenAI, Google, AWS, Deepgram, Rev, or any third-party AI provider.
What currency are these prices in?
All prices are in USD and Razorpay charges in USD. If your card is denominated in another currency, your bank converts at its published FX rate and may add a foreign-transaction fee; that's outside Razorpay's control. Indian cards can pay in USD via Razorpay's international-payments flow with no change on your side.
What happens to my file?
We keep your audio and transcript only as long as needed to deliver the job and let you retrieve it. Ask us to delete sooner at contact@neugence.ai.
