The problem

Western Australia covers a third of the continent, so beyond Perth, broadcasters serve remote and regional communities across enormous distances — the Pilbara, the Kimberley, the Goldfields, and the South West. Recording obligations apply across all of it, and reviewing that audio by hand isn't realistic.

How Whipscribe helps

Whipscribe turns your as-broadcast recordings into timestamped, speaker-labelled, fully searchable text, so a complaint or a content-review job takes minutes instead of an afternoon of scrubbing tape — with the audio staying on infrastructure you control.

Made for vast, remote coverage

The same fast, private transcription whether the audio comes from Perth or a remote regional relay.

Answer complaints fast

Search the transcript for the words a complaint is about and jump to the exact moment, instead of scrubbing hours of logger audio.

Lean teams, big footprint

Small regional teams get complaint response and content search without an afternoon of listening back.

Private by design

Self-hosted Whisper means your programming is never handed to a third-party AI service.

Questions

What are the retention rules?

Australian broadcasters have recording-retention obligations under the ACMA codes — generally at least six weeks, and longer while a complaint is unresolved. See our Australia compliance guide for detail, and confirm your current licence conditions and code. This is general information, not legal advice.

Does distance or remote operation matter?

No — you upload the recording wherever it was made; transcription runs on our infrastructure, so remote and regional operations work the same as metro.

Where is the audio processed?

On private infrastructure with open-source Whisper — never sent to OpenAI, Google, or any external transcription service, and never used to train models.

Note: Whipscribe is a transcription tool that makes recordings searchable; it complements your recording and retention systems, it does not replace them, and nothing here is legal advice. Confirm your current obligations with your licence conditions and the applicable code.
