Fundamental frequency (F0)
Fundamental frequency (F0) is the rate of vocal-fold vibration — perceived as the pitch of a voice, typically ~85–180 Hz for adult males and ~165–255 Hz for adult females.
F0 movement encodes intonation and emotion; pitch trackers extract it for prosody research, voice analysis and tuning tools. It is also why high-pass filtering below the voice's F0 range is safe cleanup.
