Punctuation restoration
Punctuation restoration is the step that turns raw recognized words into readable text by inserting periods, commas, question marks and capitalization — none of which are spoken aloud.
Modern end-to-end models emit punctuation directly, learned from punctuated training text. Quality shows up most in long recordings: bad punctuation turns an hour of speech into an unreadable wall, good punctuation makes the same words feel professionally typed.
