Voice cloning creates a synthetic voice that imitates a specific real person, sometimes from minutes of reference audio.

Legitimate uses include narration scaling and accessibility (voice banking before medical voice loss); the same capability powers impersonation fraud, which is why consent and disclosure norms — and regulation — are tightening around it.
