Transcribe long meetings recorded on an OM System LS-P5 the Olympus pocket recorder, now under a new name.
A 3.5-hour meeting recorded on an OM System LS-P5, sold earlier under the Olympus name, comes back as text in about 7 minutes once you upload the file from the recorder, up to 10 hours or 5 GB per file. The opening minutes are a free preview. Packs start at $4 for 300 minutes, and credits never expire.
From the middle of the table
Set on the table, the LS-P5 records the whole room. Its files come straight off the recorder or its card.
Getting the file off
Connect the LS-P5 to a computer by USB, where it usually shows up as a drive, or take out the microSD card if you recorded to one. Recordings are normally in a folder by recording mode; the manual names it for your firmware. Copy the meeting across and drop it here, or paste a Google Drive link if the clerk shared it.
Pick the format before the meeting
The recorder offers linear PCM WAV, MP3 and, on current firmware, FLAC. For a long meeting, MP3 keeps 3.5 hours near 200 MB at 128 kbps and goes straight into the box above; a stereo WAV at 48 kHz and 24-bit is about 3.6 GB, which waits for the first pack and continues on the upload page. If a FLAC file is refused, export it as MP3 or WAV.
Past 10 hours, or split by the recorder
A recorder left running through a full day can pass the 10-hour limit for one file; split it into two at a break. Some modes also start a new file as a take grows. Upload the parts in order so the agenda items follow on from each other.
What a meeting turns into
A brief with the meeting's purpose and outcomes, chapters with timestamps for each agenda item, the motions, figures and dates mentioned, and the questions members raised. Members are named in the summary, key quotes and chapters, so drafting minutes starts from the record rather than a notebook.
Long meetings without minutes
The recorder caught three and a half hours. The minutes were still due on Friday.

FAQ
OM System LS-P5 recordings, answered.
How long does a 3.5-hour LS-P5 meeting take?
About 7 minutes, since each hour of audio takes roughly 2. A 90-minute sub-committee is back in about 3.
Is the LS-P5 the same as the Olympus LS-P5?
The recorder has been sold under the Olympus name and later under OM System; files from either upload the same way. The exact folder and menu names can differ by firmware, so the manual is the guide there.
What does a year of meetings cost?
Twelve 3.5-hour meetings are 2,520 minutes. Packs start at $4 for 300 minutes. Packs are one-time and minutes never expire.
Can the transcript stand as the official minutes?
It is an AI transcript to work from, not a certified or official record and not legal advice. Use it to draft the minutes, then have them approved the usual way.
Does WhipScribe connect to the recorder or OM System's software?
No. There is no integration, plugin or bot with the recorder or its software. You copy the file and upload it, or paste a link to it.
Which exports come back, and who hears the meeting?
TXT, DOCX, SRT, VTT and JSON, with the language detected automatically. Recordings are transcribed on our own servers and are never used for training.
