Transcribe long interviews recorded with a Sennheiser MKE 600 the words are wherever the cable went.
A 3-hour interview recorded through a Sennheiser MKE 600 is back as text in about 6 minutes once you upload the file from the camera or recorder it was plugged into, up to 10 hours or 5 GB per file. The first 20 minutes are free on a first visit; one 3-hour interview uses 180 of the $6 pack's 500 minutes, ten of them (1,800 minutes) fit the $12 pack of 2,000, and a 25-session archive of 4,500 minutes fits the $24 pack of 5,000.
Mic in front, file behind
The MKE 600 records nothing by itself. The camera or recorder at the other end of the cable holds the take.
Which device has the file
On a camera, the interview is inside the video clip on the card, usually MP4 or MOV depending on the body. On a field recorder it is a WAV or MP3 on the recorder's SD card. Copy the file to a computer and drop it here, or paste a Google Drive link if the producer already shared the folder.
A three-hour take and the size limits
A 3-hour stereo WAV at 48 kHz and 24-bit is about 3.1 GB, past the 2 GB a file can be before the first pack; mono at the same settings is about half that. Camera video at high bitrates passes 5 GB long before three hours, so export the audio from your editor. Files over 500 MB continue on the upload page.
Pointing a shotgun for words
A shotgun hears best straight ahead and picks up the room from the side. Aim it at the person who talks most, keep it close, and switch on the low-cut filter for traffic or air-conditioning rumble. A second voice off-axis still comes through, only quieter; a clip-on mic for the guest helps.
What three hours become
A brief with the thesis and takeaways, chapters that mark each subject with a timestamp you can find on the timeline, and every name, date and figure said, listed for the fact-check. The people in the room are named in the summary, key quotes and chapters, and the chat finds a line without scrubbing three hours.
Long interviews without a transcript
The shotgun caught every word. The edit still waited for someone to log three hours.

FAQ
Sennheiser MKE 600 recordings, answered.
How long does a 3-hour MKE 600 interview take?
About 6 minutes, because an hour of audio takes roughly 2. A 45-minute pickup session is back in about a minute and a half.
Do I upload the camera file or the recorder file?
Whichever is easier to move, within 10 hours or 5 GB. The recorder WAV is usually smaller than the camera clip and carries the cleaner sound; the camera clip has the same timestamps as the footage. Exported audio from the edit works too.
What does a documentary's worth of interviews cost?
Ten 3-hour interviews are 1,800 minutes, inside the $12 pack of 2,000 with 200 left. A 25-session oral archive at 3 hours each is 4,500 minutes, which needs the $24 pack of 5,000. Packs are one-time and the minutes never expire.
My file is over 2 GB. Will it upload?
Yes once a pack is on the account; a file can then be up to 5 GB. Before the first pack, files stop at 2 GB, so either buy the pack first or upload an MP3 or mono export of the same interview.
Is there a Sennheiser app or plugin?
No. The MKE 600 is a microphone and WhipScribe has no integration, plugin or bot with it or with any camera. Copy the file, then upload it or paste a link.
Which exports come back, and is the footage private?
TXT, DOCX, SRT, VTT and JSON, with 99 languages detected automatically. Recordings are transcribed on our own servers and are never used for training.
