Transcribe Simplecast episodes straight from the show's feed.
A Simplecast episode of two and a half hours is 150 minutes of audio, and it comes back as text in about 5 minutes when you paste the show's RSS feed. The first 20 minutes are free, and the $6 pack of 500 minutes covers three episodes of that length. WhipScribe has no connection inside Simplecast; it reads the public feed, or the audio file you export.
From a Simplecast feed to text
One feed address, every long episode on it.
The Simplecast feed is the input
Every show hosted on Simplecast publishes an RSS feed so that podcast apps can find its episodes. Paste that feed address here and the episode audio is fetched on our side, so a 150 MB file never crosses your connection.
Chapters for the Simplecast episode page
A network show of two or three hours needs a map. The chapters come back with timestamps, and the brief states the episode's thesis and takeaways, which is most of a show-notes draft before anyone edits it.
Ask the transcript, not the producer
Each guest is identified and named in the summary, key quotes and chapters. The chat answers questions such as where the budget figure was first mentioned, with the minute it came up.
Three episodes per $6
Three 150-minute episodes use 450 of the 500 minutes on the $6 pack. A network clearing a back catalogue of 40 two-hour episodes needs 4,800 minutes, which the $24 pack of 5,000 covers with 200 left.
Where long network episodes go wrong
Big shows run long, and short-clip tools were not built for them.
✗ The usual detour
Producers download the master, cut it into parts and paste three transcripts back together.
- A per-file length cap far below two hours
- A WAV master too heavy to upload
- Three half-files stitched by hand
- Network show notes written from memory
- Guest quotes found by scrubbing a waveform
- A monthly plan for a weekly need
✓ The feed, as text
One link per episode, and the whole conversation comes back in one piece.
- The RSS feed pasted, nothing uploaded
- About 5 minutes for 150 minutes
- Timestamped chapters for the network's notes
- Guests named in the brief and quotes
- SRT and VTT files for the video edition
- Credits that keep between seasons

FAQ
Simplecast episodes, the questions producers ask.
How long does a Simplecast episode take to transcribe?
Roughly 2 minutes for each audio hour, so 150 minutes takes about 5. The proof page at /proof/long-files lists a 4.94-hour file finished in 372 seconds.
What does a 150-minute episode cost, and on which pack?
It fits the $6 pack of 500 minutes with 350 minutes left over. A weekly show of that length uses about 600 minutes a month, so it belongs on the $12 pack of 2,000, which works out at $0.36 an audio hour.
Do I paste the feed or a single episode?
Paste the show's RSS feed address, the one Simplecast lists for podcast apps. If an episode is still in the edit and not yet in the feed, export the mixed audio and upload that file instead.
How big is a long Simplecast episode file?
A 128 kbps MP3 carries 57.6 MB per hour (128,000 bits a second times 3,600 seconds, divided by 8), so 150 minutes is about 144 MB. Uploads go up to 2 GB before the first pack and 5 GB after, and one file can run up to 10 hours, so nothing needs splitting.
Which languages and exports come back?
99 languages are detected automatically, so a Spanish or Portuguese show on the same network needs no setting. The run gives TXT, DOCX, SRT, VTT and JSON.
Is an episode private before release?
Simplecast episodes are transcribed on our own servers and are never used for training. An unreleased cut you upload stays off the public feed until you publish it.
