ZV-E10 MP4 · file, audio or link

Transcribe a long Sony ZV-E10 recording without uploading the 4K.

The Sony ZV-E10 saves video as MP4 files on its SD card, in the PRIVATE/M4ROOT/CLIP folder, and 4K footage gets large quickly, so send its audio, a smaller export, or a YouTube or Google Drive link instead of the raw clip. A four-hour event takes about 8 minutes, the first 20 minutes are free, and a $6 pack of 500 minutes covers the other 220.

From the ZV-E10 to text

A long talking-head or event video, read for every word without moving the whole 4K file.

Where the clips are

Put the SD card in a reader and open PRIVATE, then M4ROOT, then CLIP; the MP4 files there are your recordings. The other folders hold the camera's index and thumbnail files, which you do not need for a transcript.

4K is heavy; speech is light

Video at 100 Mbps, a common 4K setting on mirrorless cameras, runs to about 45 GB an hour, and even 5 GB holds only a few minutes of it. The audio of that hour, saved as a 128 kbps MP3, is under 60 MB. Pull the sound out in your editor, or export a 1080p copy, and the upload takes moments.

Or paste a link

If the video is already on YouTube, public or unlisted, or in Google Drive with link sharing on, paste the link and we fetch it on our side. That is often the fastest route for an event you have already uploaded for your audience.

From video to everything around it

A talking-head episode or a recorded panel comes back with a brief, chapters with timestamps you can paste into a video description, and the names, numbers and dates people said. Speakers are named in the summary, key quotes and chapters, and the SRT file gives you captions to burn in or upload.

Why camera video is awkward to transcribe

Big files from the camera, small limits everywhere else.

✗ What slows it down

Mirrorless-camera footage is built for picture quality, and its size works against every tool that only wants the sound.

  • Uploading tens of gigabytes for a few hours of speech
  • A file over 5 GB refused outright
  • A 25 MB API limit for a whole episode
  • Typing chapter markers by watching the edit
  • Captions that drift after an hour
  • A subscription to caption one series

✓ Send the sound, get the text

Upload the audio or a link, and the whole recording comes back with timestamps that match the original clip.

  • Four hours of event in about 8 minutes
  • Audio or a 1080p copy instead of 4K
  • YouTube or Drive links, nothing to upload
  • $6 for 500 minutes with no expiry
  • Chapters ready for a video description
  • Five download formats from one pass

00:00:45 Today is the long one: every lens I used this year, what I kept, and what I sold.
00:31:20 The cheaper zoom is fine in daylight. Indoors it hunts, and that cost me a whole interview in March.
01:12:05 For sit-down interviews I would put the money into a lav mic before any new lens.
02:58:40 Chapters are in the description. If you only want the audio advice, jump to the one-hour mark.

FAQ

Sony ZV-E10 footage, the common questions.

How long does a ZV-E10 recording take?

About 2 minutes per hour of audio, so a four-hour event is ready in about 8 minutes and a 45-minute episode in under 2. The video's resolution does not change the time, since only the sound is processed.

What does a four-hour event cost?

A four-hour event uses 240 minutes of credit. A first-time visitor gets 20 free; the remaining 220 come from a $6 pack of 500, leaving 280. A month of weekly 45-minute episodes, 180 minutes, fits in what is left.

My 4K clip is over 5 GB. What now?

Files above 5 GB are not accepted, and above 2 GB they need a pack first. Save the audio as MP3 or export a 1080p copy, then upload that; or put the video on YouTube or Drive and paste the link.

The camera made several clips of one event. Should they be joined?

Each clip can go in as its own file and comes back as its own transcript. Join them in your editor only if you want one timeline, keeping the joined file within 10 hours.

Which languages can the video be in?

99, detected automatically from the audio. A host who switches language during a video is transcribed on the recording's main language, and English mixed with Tagalog is handled in a single file.

What can I download, and who sees the video?

Text files as TXT or DOCX, captions as SRT or VTT, and JSON for your own tools. Recordings are transcribed on our own servers and are never used for training. Delete a video whenever you like, and the transcript goes with it.
