Transcribe long shoot days from a Zoom F8n eight inputs, one transcript.
A 7-hour shoot day recorded on a Zoom F8n transcribes in about 14 minutes from one mix file, but a 24-bit, 48 kHz stereo mix that long is about 7.3 GB, so export an MP3 (about 403 MB) or a shorter WAV under 5 GB first. The first 20 minutes are free, and the day's 420 minutes fit the $6 pack of 500 minutes.
From the cart to the transcript
Eight inputs keep every voice clean. The transcript needs them in one file.
The mix, not the ISOs
Depending on its settings, the F8n writes a WAV for each input, a polyphonic file, and a left-right mix to its SD cards. Upload the mix: it holds every lavalier and the boom together. A single ISO track gives you one person clearly and everyone else faintly. If the mix track was off, build one in an editor from the ISOs.
How big a day gets
At 48 kHz and 24-bit, one channel is about 518 MB an hour and a stereo mix about 1.04 GB. Seven hours of mix is about 7.3 GB, over the 5 GB a single upload allows. A 128 kbps MP3 of the same day is about 403 MB and fits the 500 MB box above; a WAV under 5 GB goes on upload page.
Split takes on the card
Field recorders writing to SD cards often split a long take into several files at a size limit. Join the pieces in an editor before exporting, or upload them in order; each upload gets its own transcript and timeline.
Costing a production
One 7-hour day uses 420 of the 500 minutes in the $6 pack. Ten shoot days, 4,200 minutes, fit the $24 pack of 5,000. A production that records every week may prefer the $19/month Workspace.
Multitrack days elsewhere
Clean tracks, long takes, and a stack of WAVs nobody wants to scrub.

FAQ
Zoom F8n recordings, the common questions.
How long does a 7-hour day take?
About 14 minutes. Processing runs at about 2 minutes per audio hour; the proof page shows 9.31 hours in 1,033 seconds.
Can I upload all eight ISO tracks?
You can upload each as its own file, and each gets its own transcript, but most people want one mix. A mix gives one timeline with every voice on it.
Will a 24-bit WAV upload?
Yes, up to 5 GB per file; files up to 2 GB go before a pack, larger ones once a pack is on the account. A long stereo mix passes 5 GB in under five hours, so export an MP3.
What about a day longer than 10 hours?
Upload it as two files, split at a break. Either part can run to 10 hours or 5 GB.
What does the first day cost?
On your first visit, 20 minutes are on us. The rest of the day is previewed, and a pack from $6 transcribes it from where the preview ended; credits never expire.
What can I download, and is the audio private?
Exports come as TXT, DOCX, SRT, VTT and JSON. Files are processed on our own servers and never used for training. WhipScribe has no link to the recorder; it only sees the file you upload.
