castro.fm links work Timestamps on every line + timestamps TXT/DOCX/SRT/VTT/JSON Up to 10 hours or 5 GB per file

How it works

From your Castro queue to a transcript in three steps.

Castro's share link opens a public episode page that points at the episode's audio.

1

Share the episode

In Castro, open the episode, tap share and copy the link. It looks like castro.fm/episode/ followed by a short code.

2

Paste it above

Whipscribe follows the link to the episode's audio. The transcript preview opens without an account.

3

Read, search, export

Speakers are named in the summary, key quotes and chapters, and every word carries a timestamp. Export TXT, DOCX, SRT, VTT or JSON.

If a link is refused, you see a message straight away and nothing is queued. Paste the episode's MP3 link or the show's RSS feed instead, or download the episode and drop the file in the box. The box takes files up to 500 MB; larger files continue on the upload page. Episodes from private feeds you added to Castro cannot be read from a link; if the show lets you download the file, upload it instead.

What listeners and podcasters do with it

For the episodes that earn a place outside the queue.

Castro helps you decide what to listen to. A transcript helps you keep what you heard.

Notes and highlights

Show notes for creators

Podcasters can paste their own public episode link and get a DOCX to shape into show notes, and SRT or VTT captions for video clips.

Castro's own transcripts

Castro shows transcripts when the show provides one.

Castro displays transcripts that podcasters include in their show's feed. Not every show does, and Castro's own blog noted that only a minority of new episodes carried one when it added support.

When an episode has no transcript, or you want a file rather than text inside the app, paste the Castro link here. You get word-level timestamps and five export formats, kept in a library you can search.

Most shows you find on Castro belong to someone else. Transcribing a public episode for notes, study or research is common; before publishing the transcript or long quotes, ask the podcaster and credit the show. This is not legal advice.

FAQ

Castro transcripts, answered.

Does Castro have transcripts?

Castro shows a transcript when the podcaster includes one in the show's feed. Many episodes have none. Whipscribe makes a transcript from the episode's audio either way, and exports.

How do I get a transcript of a Castro episode?

Tap share on the episode in Castro, copy the castro.fm/episode/ link and paste it into the box on this page. A preview appears straight away with no signup; a pack from $4 opens the full transcript.

What if my Castro link is refused?

You see a message straight away and nothing is queued. Paste the episode's MP3 link or the show's RSS feed instead, or download the episode and upload the file.

Can I transcribe episodes from a private feed?

Not from a link, because private feed episodes have no public page. If you can download the file, drop it in the upload box.

Can I transcribe someone else's podcast?

Yes for your own reading, notes and research, which is how most listeners use it. Before you publish a transcript or long quotes, ask the podcaster and credit the show. This is not legal advice.

Is my audio private?

Your transcripts are kept in your account's searchable library, and your audio and transcripts are never used to train AI models. A link only reaches episodes that are already public.

Paste a Castro link. Read the episode.

Instant preview, no signup, no card. A free account keeps your transcripts in one library.
