How it works
Player FM episode pages are public, and Whipscribe recognises their links.
Open the episode on player.fm and copy the address, or share it from the app. Episode links look like player.fm/series/show-name/episode-name.
Whipscribe fetches the episode's audio from the link. The transcript preview opens without an account.
Speakers are named in the summary, key quotes and chapters, and every word carries a timestamp. Export TXT, DOCX, SRT, VTT or JSON.
| Link you paste | What gets transcribed |
|---|---|
player.fm/series/show-name/episode-name | That episode |
A direct .mp3 link to the episode | That file |
| The show's RSS feed link | The newest episode |
If a link is refused, you see a message straight away and nothing is queued. Paste the episode's MP3 link or the show's RSS feed instead, or download the episode and drop the file in the box. The box takes files up to 500 MB; larger files continue on the upload page. Paste an episode link rather than a show or playlist page. If the app shares a different kind of link, open the episode on player.fm in your browser and copy the address.
What learners and podcasters do with it
Many people use Player FM to follow lectures, interviews and explainers. A transcript makes them study material.
Paste an episode from your learning list and copy the passages you need into your notes, each with a timestamp back to the audio.
Search the transcript for a term or a name instead of scrubbing through an hour of audio the night before an exam.
Every transcript is kept in your account, so episodes from all the series you follow are searchable in one place.
Podcasters can paste their own public episode link and export SRT or VTT captions for clips, or a DOCX to turn into show notes.
Player FM's own transcripts
Player FM can display a transcript when the podcaster includes one in the show's feed. Many shows do not, and when they do the text stays inside the player.
Paste the episode link here when you want a transcript for an episode without one, or a file you can edit, cite from or load into a video editor.
Most shows you find on Player FM belong to someone else. Transcribing a public episode for notes, study or research is common; before publishing the transcript or long quotes, ask the podcaster and credit the show. This is not legal advice.
