Transcribe an overnight recording and read only the parts with speech.
An overnight recording is eight or so hours of mostly quiet audio with a few stretches of talk somewhere inside it. Upload the whole file here, up to 10 hours, and what comes back is the speech that was in it, each passage stamped with the time it happened. Eight hours is processed in about 16 minutes, and the first 20 minutes of your first recording are free.
Long, quiet files
Eight hours in, the talking out.
Quiet hours stay quiet
Long silences produce no text, so the transcript holds the spoken passages and little in between. You do not have to trim the night down to the moments with voices before you send it.
Timestamps show when
Each passage keeps its time from the start of the file, so a line at 03:12:40 happened three hours and twelve minutes after you pressed record. Add that to the time you started and you know the hour of the night.
Fits in one file
An 8-hour M4A or MP3 is a few hundred megabytes, well under the limits. An 8-hour CD-quality WAV is about 5.1 GB, just over the 5 GB ceiling, so save it as MP3 or M4A first, or upload it from the upload page as two halves.
What it is not
This is a transcript of speech that was recorded. It does not analyse sleep, snoring or breathing, and it is not a medical or monitoring tool; it reports the words it heard and when.
Before / after
Eight hours to listen to, or a page to read.
✗ Scrubbing through the night
Finding the few minutes of talk in an overnight file usually means watching a waveform for bumps.
- Eight hours of near silence to skim
- Volume turned up to catch a quiet voice
- A waveform full of false alarms from traffic and fans
- Clips cut out by hand and saved one by one
- No record of what time each moment happened
- A file too big for most upload boxes
✓ The speech, timed
The whole night goes up once and comes back as the passages that had words in them.
- One file up to 10 hours, or 5 GB
- About 16 minutes to process eight hours
- Spoken passages with times from the start
- A chat to ask what was said and when
- 480 minutes on one $6 pack, 20 minutes left
- Chapters where the talking clusters
Sample output
A night of recording, reduced to the words.
Illustrative sample, not a real overnight file. It shows how a long, mostly silent recording returns as short spoken passages with their times.

FAQ
Overnight recording questions.
How long does an 8-hour overnight recording take to process?
About 16 minutes once the file has uploaded, at roughly 2 minutes per hour of audio. You can close the page and come back when it is finished.
What does an overnight recording cost?
Minutes are counted on the length of the file, silent hours included, so eight hours is 480 minutes. That fits the $6 pack (500 minutes) with 20 to spare. The free first 20 minutes cover the opening of the night, which may well be quiet.
Will my overnight file be too big?
An 8-hour phone recording in M4A is roughly 240 to 480 MB, and an MP3 at 128 kbps about 464 MB, both far under 5 GB. Only uncompressed WAV gets near the ceiling, at about 635 MB per hour.
The recording ran longer than 10 hours. Can I still send it?
Split it into two files, which in a quiet night rarely means cutting through a sentence, and upload both. Each transcript's times count from the start of its own file.
Does it work for languages other than English?
Yes. Speech in any of 99 languages is detected automatically.
What can I download, and how is the recording handled?
Any of TXT, DOCX, SRT, VTT and JSON. Overnight recordings are transcribed on our own servers and are never used to train anything.
