Answer

How do I get a transcript of a YouTube live stream?

Wait until the live stream has ended and YouTube has saved the recording, then paste its link into WhipScribe. It transcribes the finished recording, not the stream as it happens, at about 2 minutes per hour of audio. The summary is free to read; a pack from $4 (500 minutes) opens the full transcript.

Finished recordings only

WhipScribe works on a recording that already exists. It does not listen to a stream while it is live and there is no real-time caption feed.

Once the stream ends and the replay is available on the channel, its link works like any other YouTube video link.

What comes back

The transcript in the language of the stream, detected automatically from 99+ languages, with timestamps. Alongside it: a brief with the takeaways, chapters with timestamps, and a chat over the transcript.

Export as TXT, DOCX, SRT, VTT or JSON.

What it costs

The summary of any recording is free to read. A pack from $4 (500 minutes) opens the full transcript. Packs are $4 / 500 minutes, $8 / 1,000, $12 / 2,000 and $24 / 5,000, and credits never expire.

How to do it

  1. Wait for the live stream to end and for the replay to appear on the channel.
  2. Copy the replay's YouTube link.
  3. Paste it into WhipScribe.
  4. Read the free summary, then open the full transcript with a pack.
  5. Export as TXT, DOCX, SRT, VTT or JSON.
