Dynamic ad insertion (DAI)
Dynamic ad insertion assembles the ads in a podcast episode at download time, so different listeners hear different, current ads in the same episode slots.
DAI turned back catalogs into inventory. Its production constraint is planning clean insertion points; its transcript quirk is that a transcript reflects one rendition of an episode whose ads vary per listener.
