Forced narrative subtitles
Forced narrative (forced subs) are subtitles that appear even when subtitles are 'off' — translating foreign-language lines, on-screen text or signs the audience must understand.
Streaming specs treat forced narrative as its own track with strict rules: only content essential to comprehension, in the program's primary language. Mislabeling forced subs is a frequent QC rejection reason in delivery.
