Can I transcribe a 4GB file? Yes, it fits.
Yes: one file can be up to 5 GB or 10 hours, so 4 GB fits and starts with a free preview of the opening minutes, pack or no pack; exporting the audio track makes the upload far smaller. Packs start at $4 for 300 minutes, and credits never expire.
Four gigabytes
What 4 GB means in hours, and in money.
Four gigabytes, three durations
At 8 Mbps camera video, 4 GB is about 67 minutes. As a 2 Mbps meeting or screen recording, it is about 4.4 hours, or 267 minutes. As 16-bit stereo WAV, about 6.3 hours. Packs start at $4 for 300 minutes, and credits never expire.
Before and after the first pack
Uploads up to 5 GB work for anyone, and a file between 2 GB and 5 GB starts without waiting for a pack. Buy the pack first and the 4 GB file goes straight through from the upload page.
Shrink it without losing words
Speech needs far less data than picture. Exporting only the audio from a 4 GB video gives a file of tens or a few hundred megabytes with exactly the same words, and that smaller file can use the free preview of the opening minutes.
If it is 4 GB of very long audio
Low-bitrate audio packs many hours into 4 GB: at 128 kbps that would be over 60 hours. The length limit of 10 hours per file applies first, so cut a file like that into parts of under ten hours each.
Big files
Why 4 GB is a wall elsewhere.
✗ Upload ceilings everywhere
Many transcription services refuse a file this size before they look at its length.
- The OpenAI Whisper API stops at 25 MB
- Browser uploads that give up partway
- Compress, split, re-upload, repeat
- Pieces that lose the timeline
- Pricing tied to file count
- No summary of the whole thing
✓ Four gigabytes accepted
The file goes up as it is, or as an audio export.
- Up to 5 GB per file
- Priced by minutes of speech
- About 13 minutes for a 6-hour WAV
- One timeline end to end
- Brief, chapters and chat

FAQ
Four-gigabyte files, answered.
Why does my 4 GB file wait for a pack?
Before the first pack, uploads already go up to 5 GB. Once any pack is on the account, files up to 5 GB start straight away. The smallest pack is $4 for 300 minutes.
How long will the upload take?
That depends more on your connection than on us. At 50 Mbps upstream, 4 GB takes roughly 11 minutes to send; processing a 6-hour recording then takes about 12 to 13 minutes.
Is the cost based on the 4 GB?
No. Cost is minutes of recording. A one-hour 4 GB video uses about 60 minutes; a six-hour WAV of the same size uses about 378. Packs start at $4 for 300 minutes, and credits never expire.
Which formats work?
MP3, MP4, M4A, WAV, FLAC, OGG, WEBM, MOV and more. If a file refuses to upload, exporting its audio as MP3 or M4A usually solves it and makes it much smaller.
What if the file is bigger than 5 GB?
Export the audio track or a lower-resolution copy, or split it into parts. Each part can be up to 5 GB and 10 hours, and each comes back with its own brief and chapters.
Who sees the file, and what about speakers?
Your file is transcribed on our own servers and is never used for training. Speakers are identified and named in the summary, key quotes and chapters, and all 99 supported languages are detected automatically.
