Searchable in about 6 minutes · $4 pack

How do you search inside a 3-hour recording? Turn it into text first.

Audio cannot be searched, so transcribe it: a 3-hour recording becomes timestamped text in about 6 minutes, and then you can find any word, jump to a chapter, or ask the chat a question about what was said. Packs start at $4 for 300 minutes, and credits never expire.

Three hours, navigable

Search at three levels.

Chapters: the map

Chapters break the three hours into topics, each with a start time. Scan them first to find which half-hour you need. In a long panel, a seminar or a recorded hearing, that alone often answers the question "when did they get to it?"

Find in text: the exact word

Inside the transcript, your browser's find (Ctrl+F or Cmd+F) jumps between matches of a word or name. In the DOCX export, Word's search does the same and keeps the timestamps beside each line.

The chat: the meaning

Ask in plain language, for example "what did they say about the budget?" or "was a date agreed?", and the chat answers from the transcript and points to the passage. It works for ideas you cannot search for by keyword because you do not remember the words.

The lists: the facts

Every recording also comes back with the names, numbers and dates said and the questions it answers, collected in one place, plus a brief with thesis and takeaways. Large video goes through the upload page; a link from YouTube, Vimeo or Drive needs no upload.

Searching audio

Why three hours of sound hides things.

✗ Scrubbing

A waveform has no words in it, so every search starts by listening again.

  • A timeline with nothing to search
  • Guessing which hour to check
  • Skipping past the moment at 2x
  • Bookmarks that say only "good part"
  • Notes that miss the exact words
  • Searching again next week from scratch

✓ Reading

Three hours of text you can search in seconds, as often as you like.

  • Chapters for the rough location
  • Find for the exact word
  • Chat for the idea
  • Names, numbers and dates listed
  • Timestamps on every line
  • About six minutes to get there

Sample output

Three chapters of a 3-hour seminar.

Illustrative lines, not a real event. Each chapter starts where the topic changed, and the transcript keeps one clock.

FAQ

Searching long recordings, answered.

Can I search the audio itself?

Not directly. Audio has to become text before it can be searched, which takes about 6 minutes for three hours here. After that, search by word, by chapter or by asking the chat.

What does a 3-hour recording cost to make searchable?

180 minutes. Packs start at $4 for 300 minutes. If you have a 3-hour recording every week, four weeks come to 720 minutes, which suits the $18 pack of 3,000. Credits never expire.

Does the search find speakers?

Speakers are identified and named in the summary, key quotes and chapters, so you can see who led each part. For a single line, read the passage around it and listen at its timestamp.

Can I search across several recordings?

Each recording has its own transcript and chat. To search a whole series together, download the TXT or JSON of each and search the folder on your computer, or load the JSON into a script or a spreadsheet.

What if the 3-hour file is a big video?

Before the first pack, uploads go up to 5 GB, the same as with a pack. For a heavier file, extract the audio track, or paste a YouTube, Vimeo or Google Drive link so the file is fetched directly.

Which languages can be searched, and is it private?

99 languages are detected automatically, and English terms within another language are handled. The recording is transcribed on our own servers and is never used for training.
