Transcribe and summarize a long recording from one upload.
A long recording transcribes and summarizes in one upload here: a 3-hour file comes back in about 6 minutes with the full transcript plus a brief of the thesis and takeaways, chapters with timestamps, the names, numbers and dates said, and the questions it answers. One file can run up to 10 hours or 5 GB, the first 20 minutes are free, and a $6 pack of 500 minutes covers the rest of a file up to about 8 hours.
Summary and transcript together
Read the summary first, then the parts that matter.
A summary of the whole thing
The brief is written from the complete recording, not from its opening hour, so a point made in the last twenty minutes of a long session is in it. It states the thesis, lists the takeaways, and names the speakers where it quotes or attributes a view.
The facts, pulled out
Long recordings scatter the details that matter: a figure in hour one, a deadline in hour three. The names, numbers and dates said in the recording come back as their own list, and the questions the recording answers are listed too, so you can see at a glance what it covers.
Chapters to go deeper
When the summary raises something you need in full, the chapters take you to it. Each one has a start time, and the transcript under it is complete, so you move from overview to exact wording in one click rather than one long listen.
No pasting into a chat window
Pasting the text of a three-hour recording into an assistant often runs into length limits or a summary of only part of it. Here the chat already has the full transcript, so you can ask a follow-up question about any stretch of the recording directly.
Summarizing long audio elsewhere
Two tools and a copy-paste is the usual route.
✗ Transcribe here, summarize there
The transcript and the summary come from different places and rarely line up.
- A transcript tool with no summary
- Pasting tens of thousands of words into a chat
- Summaries that only cover the first part
- Figures in the summary you cannot trace
- No chapters to move between topics
- Two subscriptions for one recording
✓ One upload here
Text, summary and chapters come from the same run and point to the same clock.
- A brief with thesis and takeaways
- Chapters with timestamps
- Names, numbers and dates listed
- Speakers named in the summary, quotes and chapters
- A chat over the whole transcript
- TXT, DOCX, SRT, VTT and JSON

FAQ
Transcribing and summarizing long audio, answered.
Can I transcribe and summarize a long recording at the same time?
Yes, it is one upload. The transcript comes back with a brief of the thesis and takeaways, chapters with timestamps, the names, numbers and dates said, the questions the recording answers, and a chat over the full text.
How long does it take for a 3-hour recording?
About 6 minutes, at roughly 2 minutes per audio hour, with the summary arriving alongside the transcript. A 9.31-hour file has been processed in 1,033 seconds, shown at /proof/long-files.
What does a summarized 3-hour recording cost?
The same as the transcript alone: 180 minutes, taken from the $6 pack of 500 minutes after the first 20 minutes free. The summary, chapters and chat are not charged separately.
Is there a length the summary cannot handle?
The limit is the file's: up to 10 hours or 5 GB, and the summary reads the whole of it. Before the first pack, uploads go up to 2 GB. A recording longer than 10 hours has to go up as two files, each summarized on its own.
What languages can be summarized?
Recordings in any of 99 languages are transcribed, with the language detected automatically. A recording that switches language is detected on its main one, and English and Tagalog in one file is handled.
Can I download the summary and transcript, and is the recording private?
Yes: the transcript downloads in five formats, TXT, DOCX, SRT, VTT and JSON, and the brief sits beside it in your Library. Recordings are transcribed on our own servers and are never used for training, and you can delete a recording and everything made from it.
