How do you turn a podcast into show notes? Let the episode write the first draft.
Transcribe the episode, then build the notes from what comes back: one file holds up to 10 hours or 5 GB (2 GB before your first pack), and a 90-minute episode is ready in about 3 minutes, at about 2 minutes per audio hour, with a summary, timestamped chapters and every name, title and number mentioned. The first 20 minutes are free, and the $6 pack of 500 minutes covers four 90-minute episodes with 140 minutes left.
Episode in, notes out
The parts of good show notes, and where each one comes from.
The paragraph at the top
The brief gives the thesis of the conversation and its takeaways. Rewrite it in the show's voice, two or three sentences that tell a listener scrolling the feed why this episode is worth an hour and a half.
Chapters with times
Chapters arrive with their start times, at the points where the conversation turns. Many podcast apps and video descriptions read a list of times and titles as chapters; check the format your host or player expects, then paste them in.
The links section
Guests mention books, tools, people and dates in passing. The names, numbers and dates said are listed in one place, so the links section is a matter of finding each URL rather than relistening for the title someone mumbled at minute 52.
Getting the episode in
Paste the show's RSS feed or a YouTube link and the episode is fetched for you. A raw WAV straight from the recorder can be large: the box here takes up to 500 MB, and a bigger file moves to the upload page, still up to 10 hours or 5 GB.
Notes written after a relisten
Why show notes are the job that slips.
✗ Notes by hand
The episode is edited and scheduled, and the notes are still three bullet points.
- Relistening at double speed for chapter times
- A guest's book title spelled wrong
- Chapters guessed from the edit timeline
- A two-hour interview too long for the tool
- Notes copied from the guest's bio
- Episodes published with no notes at all
✓ Notes from the transcript
The structure, the names and the times come with the transcript.
- About 3 minutes for 90 minutes
- A summary to rewrite in your voice
- Chapter times ready to paste
- Mentions listed for the links section
- SRT and VTT for the video version
- Notes done before the episode goes live

FAQ
Show notes from transcripts, answered.
Should I publish the full transcript with the notes?
Many shows do both: short notes in the feed, and the full transcript on the episode page for search and for listeners who would rather read. TXT and DOCX suit a web page; SRT and VTT suit the video upload of the same episode.
How much does a back catalogue cost?
Sixty episodes of 80 minutes are 4,800 minutes, which the $24 pack of 5,000 minutes covers with 200 left. A weekly show of four 90-minute episodes a month is 360 minutes, a fit for the $6 pack. A team publishing several shows a week may prefer the $19-a-month Workspace.
Are the hosts and guests named?
Speakers are identified and named in the summary, key quotes and chapters, which is what show notes draw on. The transcript lines carry timestamps, so any quote can be checked against the audio before it goes in the notes.
What about a 4-hour live episode?
That is about 8 minutes of processing. One file can run up to 10 hours or 5 GB. Stream recordings from Twitch, Kick or YouTube Live that run past 6 hours start once a pack is on the account.
Our intro music is long. Is that a problem?
No. Music, sound effects and crowd noise are not transcribed, only the speech, so the intro and the ad stings do not clutter the transcript.
Is our unreleased episode safe to upload?
Recordings are transcribed on our own servers and are never used for training. You can delete an episode and its transcript whenever you like, before or after it airs.
