Transcription for market researchers fieldwork as text the day it ends.
A market researcher with a 2-hour focus group gets the text back in about 4 minutes, with key quotes, chapters by guide section and a short brief. Packs start at $4 for 300 minutes, and credits never expire.
What a market researcher records
Group discussions and one-to-one interviews, ready for analysis and the debrief.
Viewing room or video call
Focus groups recorded in a viewing facility usually arrive as a video file; online groups and interviews are saved by the call tool. Download and upload, or paste a Google Drive link. Files up to 500 MB go into the box here; a larger file continues on the main upload page.
The guide, as chapters
Chapters fall where the moderator moved to the next section of the discussion guide, so the concept test in group two lines up with the concept test in group four. Each brief lists takeaways, key quotes and the questions the session answered.
Questions across the fieldwork
Ask each recording what respondents said about price, which brands they mentioned, or where the new pack design was first criticised. The answer points to the moment in the session, ready for the debrief deck.
A project, priced
Four focus groups of 2 hours are 480 minutes. Packs start at $4 for 300 minutes, and credits never expire.
Where analysis time goes
Fieldwork ends on Thursday; the debrief is on Monday.
✗ Waiting on transcripts
Analysis can't start until the text is back, so the team works from moderator notes and memory in the meantime.
- Days of wait for each batch
- Moderator notes as the only record
- Quotes rewritten from memory
- Sessions in other markets left until later
- Debrief decks built in a rush
- Old projects impossible to search
✓ Text the same evening
Each session returns in minutes, with a brief, chapters and quotes ready to pull.
- About 4 minutes for a 2-hour group
- Chapters by guide section
- Moderator and respondents named in the summary
- Key quotes in each brief
- Chat to compare what groups said
- DOCX for the client, JSON for coding

FAQ
Market researchers ask these first.
How are respondents attributed in a group?
Speakers are named in the summary, key quotes and chapters. When respondents talk over each other, check who said a verbatim line against the video before it goes into the report; a moderator who asks people to speak one at a time makes the text cleaner.
How fast is a focus group ready?
About 2 minutes per hour of audio: a 2-hour group in about 4 minutes and a 45-minute interview in about 1.5.
What does a larger project cost?
Packs start at $4 for 300 minutes. Packs are one-time and credits never expire, so leftover minutes carry to the next project.
We run groups in several countries. Does that work?
WhipScribe detects 99 languages automatically; each session comes back in the language it was held in. English brand names inside speech in another language are handled.
Do respondents need to agree to the recording?
Yes: tell respondents the session is recorded and how the recording is processed, as your consent and recruitment terms set out. Recordings are transcribed on our own servers and are never used for training.
What exports are there?
The five exports are TXT, DOCX, SRT, VTT and JSON. DOCX suits client delivery and JSON suits coding the text in your own analysis tool.
