Transcription for UX researchers sessions you can synthesise from text.
A UX researcher with a 60-minute user interview gets the text back in about 2 minutes, with key quotes, chapters by topic and a short brief. A study of 12 one-hour sessions is 720 minutes, which fits the $18 pack of 3,000 minutes, and the opening minutes are a free preview.
What a UX researcher records
Interview and usability sessions, as text ready for tagging and synthesis.
Remote and in-person sessions
Most sessions are video calls recorded in the call tool, or in-person sessions captured on a laptop. Download the recording and upload it, or paste a Google Drive share link; folders of sessions on Drive work too. Files up to 500 MB go into the box here; a longer screen recording continues on the main upload page.
Quotes for the readout
Each session's brief carries takeaways and key quotes with the participant named in the summary, and chapters split the session by task or topic. That is the first pass of synthesis done before you open the notes.
Search across the study
The chat answers from the transcript: where the participant hesitated over pricing, what they said about onboarding, which workaround they described. JSON exports keep timestamps for your own tagging or repository, and DOCX goes to stakeholders.
A study, priced
Six 75-minute sessions are 450 minutes, inside the $18 pack of 3,000 minutes. A round of 12 one-hour sessions is 720 minutes on the $18 pack of 3,000 minutes, and a larger study of 30 sessions at 75 minutes, 2,250 minutes, fits the $32 pack of 6,000 minutes.
Where synthesis stalls
The sessions are recorded; turning them into findings means watching them again.
✗ Rewatching sessions
Notes taken while moderating are thin, so researchers rewatch recordings to pull quotes before synthesis can start.
- An hour of video for three quotes
- Notes taken while moderating
- Quotes paraphrased from memory
- Stakeholders who never watch a session
- Insights stuck in one person's head
- Old studies nobody can search
✓ Sessions as text
Each recording returns with a brief, key quotes, chapters and text the whole team can search.
- About 2 minutes per one-hour session
- Key quotes ready for the readout
- Participant named in the summary
- Chapters by task for comparison
- JSON with timestamps for tagging
- Credits that carry to the next study

FAQ
UX researchers ask these first.
What does the transcript miss in a usability session?
It holds what was said, not what was clicked. In a think-aloud session, silence while a participant struggles does not show up as text, so use the timestamps to jump to the matching moment in the screen recording before you write a finding.
Does my consent form need to cover transcription?
Participants should know the session is recorded and how the recording will be processed, so say so in the consent form and at the start of the session. Recordings are transcribed on our own servers and are never used for training.
How fast is a session ready?
About 2 minutes per hour of audio: a 45-minute session in about 1.5 minutes, a 90-minute interview in about 3.
What about long diary-study calls or workshops?
One file can be up to 10 hours or 5 GB, so a half-day co-design workshop goes in as one recording. Uploads are up to 5 GB per file, with or without a pack.
Can I paste a Drive folder of sessions?
Yes. Google Drive share links and folders are accepted as links, so nothing needs to be downloaded first. Recordings stored elsewhere are downloaded and uploaded.
Participants spoke different languages. Is that fine?
WhipScribe detects 99 languages automatically, so sessions in different languages each come back in their own language.
