Transcription for subtitlers a first draft to time and style, not to type.

A subtitler can get an SRT and VTT first draft of a 2-hour film in about 4 minutes, since processing runs at roughly 2 minutes per hour of audio. Packs start at $4 for 300 minutes, and credits never expire.

From the master file to the spotting pass

Spend your hours on timing, line breaks and style, not on typing dialogue.

The long work in a subtitler's queue

Feature films, documentary cuts, whole seasons delivered in one go, recorded conferences and lectures that need captions for accessibility, and long YouTube or course videos. A low-resolution proxy or an audio-only file is usually enough, which keeps the upload small.

Getting the video in

Upload a proxy or audio file here up to 500 MB, or the bigger file on upload page, up to 10 hours or 5 GB per file. Videos on YouTube or Vimeo, or shared from Google Drive, paste in as a link. Files up to 5 GB start immediately, with or without a pack.

Seasons and films, counted

Packs start at $4 for 300 minutes, and credits never expire. A large back catalogue of 80 hours, 4,800 minutes, belongs on the $32 pack of 6,000.

What comes back besides the cues

SRT and VTT drafts with timestamps, plus a brief with the plot or thesis and takeaways, chapters for each scene or section, the names, numbers and dates spoken, and the questions the video answers. Characters and speakers are named in the summary and key quotes, which helps with spellings across a season.

Why typing from scratch is the slow part

On a long film, transcribing the dialogue eats the day before any timing begins.

✗ Subtitles from a blank file

Every line typed by ear, then spotted, then styled, for hours of dialogue.

  • Hours of typing before the first timing pass
  • Names spelled differently across episodes
  • Fast overlapping dialogue replayed again and again
  • A season deadline set by typing speed
  • Long lectures captioned last because they are long
  • No text to search when a client asks for a change

✓ A draft to refine

Dialogue already in cues, so the hours go into the craft of the subtitle.

  • A 2-hour film drafted in about 4 minutes
  • SRT and VTT ready for your subtitle editor
  • Names listed per episode in the brief
  • Chapters to navigate a long cut
  • A full season on one pack
  • Text search for any line the client queries

FAQ

Questions subtitlers ask.

Will the cues meet my style guide?

Not out of the box, and that is the caution worth stating plainly: the draft gives you accurate timing anchors and the dialogue, but line length, characters per second, line breaks and shot-change rules differ by client and broadcaster. Plan a spotting and styling pass on every file.

Do the timestamps match the video's timecode?

They count from the start of the file you upload. If your master starts at 10:00:00:00 or carries a slate or countdown that your delivery file does not, offset the subtitle file in your subtitle editor before delivery.

What about songs and on-screen text?

Music and sound effects are not transcribed, and songs with lyrics are generally left out with them, so add lyric subtitles and any forced narratives for on-screen text yourself. The speech is what the draft covers.

Can I subtitle in other languages?

99 languages are detected automatically, so a Korean, Spanish or Swedish film gives a draft in its own language. The draft is in the language spoken; translating it into another language is your work.

What will a season cost?

The opening minutes of every recording are a free preview. Packs start at $4 for 300 minutes. Packs are one-time and never expire, so a quiet month between commissions loses nothing.

Is unreleased material safe to upload?

Files are transcribed on our own servers and are never used to train a model, and you can delete each file and its draft as soon as the job is delivered. Check your client's rules on outside processing for pre-release content before uploading.
