Pay-once transcription for long files buy minutes once, spend them when the recordings come.
WhipScribe sells one-time packs, $6 for 500 minutes, $12 for 2,000 minutes and $24 for 5,000 minutes, with no subscription and credits that never expire, so a long file is paid for once, by its length. One file can run to 10 hours or 5 GB (2 GB before the first pack) and takes about 2 minutes per audio hour; the first 20 minutes are free, and a 6-hour recording uses 360 of the 500 minutes in the $6 pack.
How paying once works
One purchase, then the minutes sit on your account.
Pick the pack by total length
Add up the recordings you have now. Up to 500 minutes, a little over eight hours, the $6 pack is enough. Up to 2,000 minutes, about 33 hours, take the $12 pack. More than that, the $24 pack of 5,000 minutes covers over 83 hours.
The hourly rate falls as packs grow
Per audio hour, the $6 pack works out to $0.72, the $12 pack to $0.36, and the $24 pack to about $0.29. The minutes never expire, so buying the larger pack for a backlog you will finish over months costs nothing extra.
A long file is charged by its length
A six-hour recording takes 360 minutes; a ten-hour one takes 600. If you already saw the free preview, the pack transcribes the rest from where the preview ended. There is no charge per file, per seat or per export.
Nothing renews
You pay at checkout with a card, once. There is no plan to cancel and no renewal date to remember. When the minutes run low, buy another pack, or do nothing until the next long recording turns up.
Two ways to pay for long recordings
A monthly plan you might not use versus minutes you own.

- Hour caps that a single long file can exhaust
- A cancellation to remember
- Upgrades to fit one big month
- A price per seat for the team
✓ A pack bought once
Minutes on your account until you use them.
- One payment, from $6
- Credits that never expire
- A 6-hour file uses 360 minutes
- Rate as low as $0.29 an audio hour
- No renewal, nothing to cancel
- Exports included with the transcript

FAQ
Questions about paying once for long files.
Is there really no subscription?
None. Packs are one-time purchases: $6 for 500 minutes, $12 for 2,000 minutes and $24 for 5,000 minutes. Credits never expire, and nothing is charged again unless you buy another pack.
Which pack fits one long file?
Any single file fits the $6 pack up to 500 minutes, which is eight hours and twenty minutes. A file between that and the 10-hour limit, up to 600 minutes, needs the $12 pack of 2,000 minutes.
What about a backlog of long files?
Add the minutes. Forty hours of recordings is 2,400 minutes, which needs the $24 pack of 5,000 minutes and leaves 2,600 for later. Twenty hours is 1,200 minutes and fits the $12 pack with 800 left.
Can I try it before paying?
Yes. A first-time visitor gets the first 20 minutes free. A recording up to 20 minutes is transcribed in full; a longer one is previewed, and a pack transcribes the rest from where the preview ended.
How big and how long can each file be?
Up to 10 hours or 5 GB, whichever comes first. Before the first pack, uploads can be up to 2 GB. Processing runs at about 2 minutes per audio hour, so a 6-hour file takes around 12 minutes.
Is anything else included?
A brief with the thesis and takeaways, chapters with timestamps, the names, numbers and dates said, a chat over the transcript, and TXT, DOCX, SRT, VTT and JSON exports. Speakers are named in the summary, key quotes and chapters.
