Transcribe a 100-minute podcast episode Show notes and chapters from one upload.

A 100-minute podcast episode is transcribed in about 3 minutes 20 seconds, from the MP3 or straight from the show's RSS feed, and it uses 100 of the 500 minutes in the $6 pack. Five episodes this long fit in one pack, a 20-episode back catalogue fits the $12 pack (2,000 minutes) exactly, and the first 20 minutes are free.

One long episode

From episode to show notes.

Link or file, both work

A podcast or RSS link needs no upload: paste it and pick the episode. A video version on YouTube or Vimeo can be pasted as a link too. The master file from your editor works as well, whether MP3, WAV or M4A.

How big a 100-minute episode is

At 128 kbps an MP3 of 100 minutes is about 96 MB, and at 192 kbps about 144 MB. The uncompressed WAV master in 16-bit stereo is about 1.06 GB. All of these fit under the 2 GB that applies before a pack; files over 500 MB use the upload page.

Chapters for the show notes

Chapters with timestamps mark where the conversation turns, which is most of the work of writing chapter markers. The brief gives the thesis and takeaways, and the names, books, numbers and dates mentioned on air are collected in one list for the episode page.

Quotes worth posting

Hosts and guests are named in the summary, key quotes and chapters, so the best lines arrive with who said them and when. The chat answers questions like where the guest talked about their first job, and points you to the timestamp.

Long-form episodes

Why 100-minute episodes rarely get transcripts.

✗ Show notes written from memory

Long conversations are the shows that most need a transcript and the ones least likely to get one, because typing 100 minutes is most of a day.

  • Hosting-platform transcripts that stop early
  • A 25 MB API limit a long MP3 passes
  • Chapter markers set by scrubbing
  • Guest quotes paraphrased from memory
  • An episode page with nothing for search to index
  • Captions missing on the video cut

✓ An episode with its text

The whole conversation as text, plus the parts you would have written by hand.

  • RSS link pasted, no download
  • Episode text in about 3 min 20 s
  • Timestamped chapters for notes
  • Guests named in key quotes
  • Caption files for the YouTube cut
  • Five episodes per $6 pack

FAQ

100-minute podcast episodes, answered.

How long does a 100-minute episode take to transcribe?

Around 3 minutes 20 seconds of processing. Pasting the RSS link skips your upload entirely; the episode is fetched from the feed, so the wait is mostly the transcription itself.

What does a 100-minute episode cost, and what about the back catalogue?

One episode uses 100 minutes of the $6 pack (500 minutes), leaving 400 for four more. A back catalogue of 20 episodes at 100 minutes is 2,000 minutes, exactly the $12 pack; 50 episodes is 5,000 minutes, the $24 pack, which also includes API access. The first 20 minutes of the first episode are free.

Is a WAV master too big?

No. A 100-minute WAV in 16-bit stereo at 44.1 kHz is about 1.06 GB, inside the 2 GB allowed before a pack and well under the 5 GB limit per file. The MP3 is smaller and gives the same words.

Our episodes run past 10 hours in a marathon special. What then?

Upload it as two files split at a break; the limit is 10 hours or 5 GB per file. Ordinary long-form episodes of two or three hours go in whole.

Which languages and mixed-language shows are supported?

99 languages are detected automatically, including Spanish, Portuguese, Korean, Japanese, Swedish, Hebrew, Afrikaans and Zulu. A show that drifts between English and Tagalog is handled. Theme music, stings and sound effects are not transcribed; the talk is.

What exports come back, and is the audio kept private?

TXT, DOCX, SRT, VTT and JSON are all available for every episode. Podcast audio is transcribed on our own servers and is never used for training.
