Transcribe a 2-hour council meeting Agenda items, motions and public comment, in text.

A 2-hour council meeting is 120 minutes of audio and is transcribed in about 4 minutes; the chamber's audio at 128 kbps is roughly 115 MB, and a 1080p livestream download is usually a few gigabytes. One meeting uses 120 of the $4 pack's 300 minutes, and the opening minutes are a free preview.

Where the recording lives

Many councils stream meetings to YouTube and leave the replay up; paste that link and nothing needs downloading. Recordings held on a council's own video portal, or the clerk's audio from the chamber system, are downloaded first and then uploaded as MP4, MP3 or WAV.

Agenda items become chapters

Chapters with timestamps follow the meeting's own structure: call to order, consent items, public comment, each discussion item and the votes. Councillors and staff are identified and named in the summary, key quotes and chapters, which is usually what a resident or reporter needs first. Long procedural stretches, such as roll calls, are kept in the text but do not crowd the brief.

The numbers said aloud

Budget lines, vote counts, addresses, dates and ordinance numbers spoken in the meeting are pulled into a list beside the transcript. The chat answers questions such as what was decided on the zoning item, with the minute it happened.

A year of meetings

Packs start at $4 for 300 minutes, and credits never expire. A council that records every week as a team can look at the $19/month Workspace instead.

Meeting records

Why a two-hour council meeting is hard to follow later.

✗ Scrubbing the replay

Formal minutes record the outcome, not the discussion that led to it, and the replay has no index.

  • Two hours of video with no chapters
  • Public comment summarised in a line
  • Figures misheard from a bad stream
  • Vote counts hard to locate
  • Tools that refuse a long file
  • Nothing a resident can search

✓ A transcript beside the minutes

The full meeting as text, organised by the agenda.

  • 120 minutes from a link or a file
  • About 4 minutes to text
  • Chapters for each agenda item
  • Numbers, dates and addresses listed
  • Speakers named in the summary
  • TXT and DOCX for the record

00:01:30 I call this regular meeting to order. Please note that the consent agenda has one item pulled.
00:52:18 The revised estimate for the road resurfacing is higher than the figure we approved in March.
00:53:04 Is that because of the scope change on the eastern section, or the material costs?
01:12:46 Public comment on this item is now open. Each speaker has three minutes.
01:47:39 The motion carries five to two. We'll move on to the next item.

FAQ

2-hour council meetings, answered.

How long does a 2-hour council meeting take?

Roughly 4 minutes: processing takes about 2 minutes for each hour of audio, and the public proof page records a 9.31-hour file finished in 1,033 seconds. A clerk can have text before the meeting room is cleared.

Can I paste the YouTube livestream link?

Yes. Paste the YouTube video or live replay directly; Vimeo and Google Drive share links are accepted too. A replay that lives only on a council's own meeting portal has to be downloaded and uploaded.

Is this an official record of the meeting?

No. It is an AI transcript to work from, not a certified or official transcript and not legal advice; the council's adopted minutes remain the record.

What does a full year of council meetings cost?

Packs start at $4 for 300 minutes. Monthly meetings alone total 1,440 minutes and fit the $18 pack (3,000 minutes). Credits never expire.

Our meeting ran past five hours. Does that still work?

Yes. One file can be up to 10 hours or 5 GB. A large file starts with or without a pack, and anything longer than 10 hours goes up as two files.

What exports come back, and is the recording private?

Downloads come as TXT, DOCX, SRT, VTT and JSON; the SRT and VTT files can caption the archived meeting video for residents who watch with the sound off. The meeting audio is transcribed on our own servers and is never used for training.
