Phone recordings, walk-and-talks, meetings on a phone · 2 hours

Transcribe a 2-hour voice memo and get the ideas out of your phone.

A 2-hour voice memo uses 120 minutes and comes back as text in about 4 minutes, with a brief of what you said and chapters where the topic changed. The $6 pack of 500 minutes covers four memos this long, and the first 20 minutes are free.

For anyone who records long thoughts on a phone

A two-hour memo is easy to record and hard to use. The text makes it useful.

What you actually decided

The brief pulls the main ideas and conclusions out of a long, rambling recording, so you can see where the thinking ended up without reliving every detour.

Topic changes as chapters

Memos wander. Chapters mark each new subject with a title and start time, which turns a two-hour walk-and-talk into a list of sections.

The details you said once

A phone number, a date, a price you mentioned in passing: names, numbers and dates spoken in the memo are listed with their timestamps.

Straight from the phone

Share the memo to Files or to your computer, then send it through the upload page. A memo saved to Google Drive can be pasted as a link.

Why long memos never get used

Most two-hour memos are recorded once and never played again.

✗ Memos left on the phone

Recording is effortless, so the memos pile up. Going back to one means listening at normal speed to find a single idea you remember having somewhere in the middle.

  • A list of memos named only by date or place
  • Ideas you cannot find without replaying
  • Phone transcription built for short notes
  • Upload tools that stop at 25 MB
  • Notes you meant to write up and never did
  • Background noise from walking or driving

✓ The same memo here

Upload the memo and read it, skim it or ask it questions within minutes.

  • The memo as text in about 4 minutes
  • A brief with the main ideas
  • Chapters for each topic
  • Names, numbers and dates listed
  • A chat that answers from what you said
  • Four memos on one $6 pack

00:31:05 Okay, back to the shop idea. The real question is whether we open on Saturdays or keep it to weekdays at first.
00:31:20 If we open Saturdays we need a second person, and that changes the numbers completely.
00:32:02 Note to self, call the landlord on Thursday about the lease start date. He said the first of the month, but check.
01:12:40 Different topic. For the website, I think the photos matter more than the text. People want to see the space.
01:13:15 So the decision for now is weekdays only, one person, and we revisit Saturdays after three months.

FAQ

Two-hour voice memos, answered.

How long does a 2-hour memo take?

About 4 minutes. Shorter memos finish faster still, and several can be uploaded one after another.

What will a backlog of memos cost?

A 2-hour memo uses 120 minutes, so the $6 pack of 500 minutes covers four of them. Fifteen long memos, around 1,800 minutes, fit the $12 pack of 2,000 minutes. Credits do not expire, so a pack can sit on the account until the next memo.

Which file types work?

The common ones, including M4A, MP3, WAV, FLAC and the audio from MP4 video. A phone memo of two hours is well inside the limit of 10 hours or 5 GB per file and the 2 GB that applies before your first pack.

Why not use the transcription built into my phone?

You can for short notes. This is for the long ones: a single two-hour file comes back with a brief, chapters and a chat over the text, and exports as DOCX or TXT for your notes app.

I switch languages when I think out loud. Does that break it?

The memo is detected on its main language, and switches between English and Tagalog in one recording are handled. Ninety-nine languages are recognised automatically, so a memo entirely in Korean, Swedish or Portuguese needs no settings.

Which exports do I get, and who hears my memos?

DOCX and TXT for your notes, plus SRT, VTT and JSON. Personal memos stay personal: recordings are transcribed on our own servers and are never used for training, and you can delete any memo at any time.
