Transcribe a school governing body meeting in both languages.
A 2.5-hour school governing body meeting held in Afrikaans and English is transcribed in about 5 minutes, detected on its main language with the switches handled. The first 20 minutes are free, and ten meetings of 150 minutes a year come to 1,500 minutes on the $12 pack of 2,000 minutes.
For the SGB secretary
Minutes that match what the parents, staff and principal actually said.
Both languages in one text
Parents speak Afrikaans, a staff member reports in English, and the meeting comes back as one transcript with the switches handled.
Budget figures you can trust
Fee amounts, budget lines and dates said during the meeting come back as a list, so the minutes quote the numbers that were actually agreed.
Each item under its heading
Chapters split the meeting by agenda item, from the principal's report to finance and general matters, each with a time to replay.
A draft before the next meeting
The brief lists the main decisions and the questions raised, a starting point for minutes that go to the chair for approval. Large files go through upload page.
Why SGB minutes cause arguments
A long meeting, two languages, and a secretary expected to remember both.
✗ Notes from the table
The secretary writes as fast as possible and the disputed point is always the one that was missed.
- Two languages in one set of notes
- Amounts noted from memory
- Who seconded the motion, unclear
- Recordings never replayed in full
- English-only tools for a mixed meeting
- Minutes finished a month later
✓ The meeting as text
Send the recording after the meeting and work from what was said.
- A 150-minute meeting back in about 5 minutes
- Afrikaans and English handled together
- Agenda items as chapters
- Parents and staff named in the summary
- Fees and dates listed
- Chat to check what was resolved

FAQ
School governing body recordings, answered.
How soon after an SGB meeting closes is the text ready?
About 5 minutes, at around 2 minutes per hour of audio. A short 2-hour meeting takes about 4 and a long budget meeting of 3 hours about 6. The secretary can therefore check a disputed point the same evening, while the chair and the principal can still confirm it.
What does a year of SGB meetings cost?
Ten meetings of 150 minutes are 1,500 minutes, which fits the $12 pack of 2,000 minutes with room for a parents' budget meeting. Two meetings of 2.5 hours, 300 minutes, sit on the $6 pack of 500 minutes. The school pays in US dollars. The pack belongs to whoever buys it, so many schools buy one pack for the governing body and let the secretary upload every meeting.
Our meetings switch between Afrikaans and English all evening. Does it cope?
The recording is detected on its main language and the switches into the other language are handled. Both are among the 99 languages recognised automatically, so nothing needs setting. Afrikaans school terms and English education terms are transcribed as spoken, so the text reads the way the meeting sounded.
Does the transcript replace the approved minutes?
No. It is a working text to write the minutes from. The minutes are still drafted by the secretary and approved by the governing body in the usual way. Members who were absent can read the summary instead of asking for a replay, which saves the first half hour of the next meeting.
What about file size?
An SGB recording can be up to 10 hours or 5 GB per file. Before your first pack, uploads are limited to 2 GB, and a phone recording of a meeting is usually a small fraction of that. Put the recorder in the middle of the table rather than next to the principal, so parent members are heard as clearly as staff.
Which files come back, and who can listen to the meeting afterwards?
The secretary can download TXT, DOCX, SRT, VTT and JSON, with DOCX the easiest base for minutes. Recordings are transcribed on our own servers and never feed model training, and the secretary can delete them from the Library once the minutes are approved. Agree as a governing body how long recordings are kept, and delete them from the Library when the minutes are signed.
