Transcribe a Catalan radio show and keep every programme searchable.
A 3-hour Catalan radio programme recorded in Spain is transcribed in about 6 minutes, because WhipScribe works at roughly 2 minutes per hour of audio and detects Catalan on its own. Four weekly 3-hour shows make 720 minutes, which sits well inside the $18 pack of 3,000 minutes, and every recording starts with a free preview of its opening minutes.
For radio producers and archivists
A programme goes out once at nine in the morning. Its text can be quoted, searched and reused for years.
The running order, rebuilt
Chapters fall at each block of the programme: the headlines, the studio interview, the phone-in, the culture agenda. A producer who needs the four minutes on the festival budget jumps straight there instead of scrubbing through the hour.
Names and numbers in one place
The brief lists the guests introduced on air, the towns, the dates of events announced and the figures quoted, with timestamps. That list is the start of the show notes and the station's own archive card.
Master files go through the main page
A broadcast MP3 at 128 kbps is about 57.6 MB per hour (16 KB a second times 3,600 seconds), so a 3-hour show is near 173 MB and fits the box on this page, which takes up to 500 MB. An uncompressed WAV master of the same show is closer to 1.9 GB; send that one through the upload page.
Captions for the studio camera
Stations that stream the studio as video can download SRT or VTT and put Catalan captions on the clip. The song breaks carry no captions, since music is not transcribed.
Why radio archives go quiet
Hundreds of hours of Catalan talk sit on a hard drive, and none of it can be searched.
✗ The archive today
Each programme is saved as one long audio file named by date. To find an interview from last spring, somebody listens through a week of mornings.
- Files named only by broadcast date
- No text for the station website
- Phone-in callers impossible to find later
- English-only tools that stumble on Catalan
- Upload limits far below a 3-hour show
- Interns typing show notes by hand
✓ With a transcript per show
Every programme lands as Catalan text with chapters, so the archive answers a search in seconds.
- Catalan text ready minutes after the show
- Chapters at each segment
- Presenter and guests named in the summary
- Events and dates listed with timestamps
- Feed or file, whichever is quicker
- Packs from $4 for 300 minutes
Sample output
A morning magazine programme, from the opening to the sign-off.
These Catalan lines were written for this page and are illustrative only; no real station or presenter is quoted. In English: good morning, it is five past nine; today we talk about the town festival; a caller is on the line; a music break, then the weekend agenda; thank you for listening.

FAQ
Catalan radio shows, answered.
How quickly does a 3-hour Catalan programme come back?
In about 6 minutes. The rate is roughly 2 minutes of processing per hour of audio, so a one-hour weekly slot is back in about 2 and a 2-hour afternoon show in about 4. The largest public run is on the proof page: 9.31 hours of audio finished in 1,033 seconds.
What does a month, a year or a daily show cost?
A weekly 3-hour programme uses about 720 minutes a month, inside the $18 pack of 3,000. Packs start at $4 for 300 minutes. Packs are one-time, and the minutes never expire.
Callers sometimes answer in Spanish, and guests use English words. What happens?
Catalan is detected automatically as the programme's main language, and English terms inside the talk, such as song titles or a guest's job title, are handled in the same pass. A recording that switches language is detected on its main language, so give the passages where a caller speaks Spanish for several minutes a quick read before you publish them.
Do the songs and jingles end up in the text?
No. Songs, jingles, sound effects and crowd noise stay out of the transcript, which holds the speech only. Spoken ad reads, the news bulletin and the traffic report are talk, so they appear in the transcript like any other segment.
Can I skip the upload if the show is already a podcast?
Yes. Paste the programme's podcast or RSS feed, a YouTube link or a Google Drive folder of past shows, and nothing has to be uploaded. A single file can run up to 10 hours or 5 GB, with or without a pack on the account.
Who is named, and where does the audio go?
The presenter, the guests and any caller introduced by name are identified in the summary, key quotes and chapters. Each show is transcribed on our own servers and is never used to train a model. Exports come as TXT, DOCX, SRT, VTT and JSON.
