Transcribe a long AAC file ten hours in one upload.
A long AAC file takes about 30 to 60 MB per hour, so even a 10-hour recording is well under the 2 GB that uploads before any pack, and it transcribes at about 2 minutes per audio hour. The first 20 minutes are free, and the $12 pack of 2,000 minutes covers a 10-hour AAC with 1,400 minutes left.
AAC, worked out
AAC is compact enough that a whole day of speech is a light upload.
Size per hour
At 64 to 128 kbps, AAC takes roughly 30 to 60 MB for each hour of audio, and lower-bitrate versions used for streams are smaller still. Ten hours at the top of that range is under 600 MB, so the 10-hour limit per file arrives long before the 5 GB one.
A bare .aac or an .m4a
AAC usually travels inside an M4A or MP4 container, but some recorders and audio extraction tools write a bare .aac file instead. The speech is the same either way. If the upload refuses a bare .aac file, convert it to MP3 first, or wrap it as M4A with a tool you already use.
Into the upload
Drop the file in the box on this page. A long AAC rarely needs more than that, but you can also send it through the upload page, which takes one file up to 5 GB. Recordings longer than 10 hours are split into two files at a break.
A day of speech you can search
Ten hours of talk is close to 90,000 words. It comes back with a brief that states the main points, chapters with timestamps, the names, numbers and dates that were said, and a chat that answers questions about the recording. The people speaking are identified and named in the summary, key quotes and chapters.
Why long AAC files are awkward
The file is small. Ten hours of it is still ten hours of listening.
✗ Tools that count the hours
The size is fine, but per-hour plans and length caps make a long AAC expensive or impossible.
- Length caps of an hour or two
- Monthly plans for one long file
- Splitting to get past a limit
- Pickers that skip the .aac extension
- No chapters across ten hours
- Quotes with no time to check
✓ Ten hours, one file
The AAC goes in whole and comes back as one transcript on one clock.
- About 20 minutes for ten hours
- Uploads before any pack
- 20 minutes free to begin
- $12 for 2,000 minutes
- Chapters for the whole day
- SRT and VTT for captions

FAQ
Long AAC files, the common questions.
How long does a 10-hour AAC take to transcribe?
Close to 20 minutes, because each audio hour takes about 2. A 4-hour AAC takes about 8, and because the file is small, the upload is usually over in moments on a normal connection.
What does a 10-hour AAC cost?
Ten hours is 600 minutes, which is more than the $6 pack (500 minutes) holds, so it goes on the $12 pack (2,000 minutes) with 1,400 minutes left. A 4-hour file of 240 minutes fits the $6 pack. Credits never expire.
How big is an AAC file per hour?
About 30 MB at 64 kbps and about 60 MB at 128 kbps, with streaming versions often smaller. Ten hours at 128 kbps is under 600 MB, well inside the 2 GB that uploads before a pack and the 5 GB ceiling.
My recording is longer than 10 hours. Can it be one file?
No; one file can run up to 10 hours. Split it at a natural break and upload both parts. Each transcript has its own timestamps from zero, so keep a note of which part is first.
Which languages work in an AAC recording?
99 languages, detected automatically, Spanish, Swedish, Hebrew and Tagalog among them. A recording that switches language is detected on its main language, and English with Tagalog in one recording is handled.
What can I export, and who sees the recording?
The same run produces TXT, DOCX, SRT, VTT and JSON. AAC uploads are transcribed on our own servers and are never used for training, and you can delete the file and transcript at any time.
