Transcribe Amazon Connect call recordings straight from the S3 file.
To transcribe an Amazon Connect call, copy the recording out of the S3 bucket your instance writes to and upload it here; a 2-hour escalation comes back as text in about 4 minutes. The first 20 minutes are free, and a month of 200 sampled calls at 12 minutes (2,400 minutes) fits the $24 pack of 5,000 minutes.
From the bucket to text
Connect writes every recorded contact to S3. Finding the one that matters is still manual.
Locate the file
Amazon Connect stores call recordings in the S3 bucket set in the instance's data storage settings, typically in date-based folders under a call recordings prefix, named with the contact ID. The files are commonly WAV, often stereo with the agent and customer on separate channels; check your own bucket, as setups differ. Contact Search in the Connect console is a quick way to find the contact ID for a complaint before you go to the bucket.
Copy and upload
Download the object from the S3 console, or copy it with the AWS CLI using an IAM role that can read the bucket and decrypt it if a KMS key is in use. Then upload it above. WhipScribe asks for no AWS credentials and reads nothing from your account.
Sizes and limits
Telephone-rate stereo WAV (8 kHz, 16-bit) is about 115 MB an hour, so a 2-hour escalation is around 230 MB, comfortably under the 500 MB this box takes and the 2 GB allowed before a pack. One file may run to 10 hours or 5 GB.
The month in packs
Two hundred sampled calls at 12 minutes are 2,400 minutes: the $24 pack of 5,000. Eighty calls of the same length are 960 minutes, which fits the $12 pack of 2,000. A single 2-hour call uses 20 free minutes and 100 from the $6 pack of 500, leaving 400.
Why S3 recordings sit unheard
The contact ID tells you which call. It does not tell you what went wrong in it.

FAQ
Amazon Connect recordings, answered.
How fast is a Connect recording transcribed?
About 2 minutes per hour of audio. A 2-hour escalation takes about 4 minutes; a 12-minute call finishes in under half a minute. Copying a day's folder out of S3 is often the slowest step, so pick the contacts you need first.
Does WhipScribe connect to my AWS account?
No. There is no Amazon Connect or S3 integration and no access to your AWS account. You copy the file out and upload it, or share a Google Drive folder link.
Is stereo audio a problem?
No. Stereo WAV transcribes as it is, with both sides of the call in one transcript. The agent and customer are named in the summary, key quotes and chapters.
Do callers need to be told?
The law where you are decides what consent a recorded call needs; get it. A recording notice in the contact flow is the usual way.
Which pack suits a QA team?
Count the minutes you sample. Up to 500 is the $6 pack, up to 2,000 the $12 pack, up to 5,000 the $24 pack. Credits never expire and there is no subscription.
What happens to customer recordings?
Recordings are transcribed on our own servers and are never used for training. Delete the file and its transcript when the case is closed.
