Transcribe a full production day recorded on an Atomos Shogun and hand the editor a searchable script.
An 8-hour production day recorded on an Atomos Shogun is transcribed in about 16 minutes once its audio is exported and uploaded, or shared as a Google Drive link, at up to 10 hours or 5 GB per file. The first 20 minutes are free for a first-time visitor, and the 480 minutes fit the $6 pack of 500 minutes with 20 left.
Long productions, large recorders
A Shogun is chosen for long, serious shoots: talk shows, conferences, multi-hour interviews. Those are exactly the days that need a transcript.
Files built for editing
Like other Atomos recorders, a Shogun usually writes ProRes or DNx inside MOV files to an SSD, with the codec set in its menu. An hour of that can be tens of gigabytes, so an 8-hour day is far past the 5 GB per-file limit and the audio needs to come out first.
Use the cleanest audio you have
On many productions the sound team records a separate mix or the recorder gets a feed from the desk. Send that mix if it exists; it is usually clearer than a camera's scratch track and a 16-bit, 48 kHz mono WAV of 8 hours is about 2.8 GB, which starts once a pack is on the account.
Keeping the upload small
Converted to a 96 kbps MP3, eight hours of speech is about 346 MB and fits the box on this page, which takes files up to 500 MB. A larger WAV or a long M4A goes on upload page, still up to 10 hours or 5 GB per file.
A script the editor can search
The day comes back with a brief, chapters with timestamps, the names, numbers and dates spoken, and the questions the recording answers. Speakers are named in the summary, key quotes and chapters, and the chat over the transcript finds the moment someone said a line.
Production transcripts elsewhere
On a long shoot the edit waits for the transcript, and the transcript waits for someone to listen to the whole day.

FAQ
Atomos Shogun recordings, answered.
How long does an 8-hour Shogun recording take?
About 16 minutes, since it runs at roughly 2 minutes per hour of audio. The proof page shows 9.31 hours completed in 1,033 seconds.
What does a multi-day production cost?
A four-day shoot of 8 hours a day is 1,920 minutes, which fits the $12 pack of 2,000 minutes with 80 left. Ten such days, 4,800 minutes, fit the $24 pack of 5,000 minutes with 200 to spare.
Why not upload the recorder's MOV directly?
Because an 8-hour ProRes or DNx file is many times larger than the 5 GB per-file limit. The audio carries all the speech, so exporting it loses nothing for the transcript.
The day ran past 10 hours. What now?
Export it as two files, split at a break, and upload both. Each one up to 10 hours or 5 GB returns with its own timestamps.
Can it handle a show in Hebrew, Japanese or Spanish?
Yes. 99 languages are detected automatically, and a recording that switches language is transcribed on its main one.
Does WhipScribe connect to Atomos, and who hears the audio?
There is no integration or plugin with Atomos; you export and upload. Recordings are transcribed on our own servers and are never used for training.
