Transcribe long roundtables recorded on a Blue Yeti X the whole day around one microphone.
A 5.5-hour discussion recorded around a table on a Blue Yeti X comes back as text in about 11 minutes once you upload the file your laptop saved. The first 20 minutes are free on a first visit, the 330 minutes fit the $6 pack of 500 with 170 left, and one file may reach 10 hours or 5 GB.
From the table to the record
Set to pick up all around, the Yeti X hears a whole table. The transcript keeps every turn in order.
Choosing the pickup pattern
The Yeti X has several pickup patterns. For a group around a table, the all-around (omnidirectional) setting hears every seat; for one speaker, the front-facing pattern keeps room noise down. Test a minute before a long session and check that the quietest seat is audible.
The file your laptop made
The Yeti X records through a computer, so the session is wherever your recording program saved it, typically after an Export command. That export, usually a WAV or MP3, is what you upload. A project file from the editor is not audio and will not transcribe.
Sizing a long day
A 16-bit stereo WAV at 44.1 kHz runs to about 635 MB an hour, so 5.5 hours is near 3.5 GB, under 5 GB but over the 2 GB that uploads before a pack. A 128 kbps MP3 of the same day is around 320 MB.
A day of talk, organised
The discussion returns with a brief of its thesis and takeaways, chapters with timestamps for each topic, the names, numbers and dates said, and the questions the group answered. Participants are named in the summary, key quotes and chapters, and the chat finds the moment a point was agreed.
Long group recordings elsewhere
A whole day of discussion is valuable and almost impossible to listen to twice.
✗ What usually happens
Everything was said; nothing is written down.
- OpenAI's Whisper API, which stops accepting at 25 MB
- A day's WAV refused as too large
- Notes left to whoever was not speaking
- Agreements remembered differently later
- Hours split into parts to upload
- Quiet seats missing from the notes

FAQ
Blue Yeti X recordings, the common questions.
How long does a 5.5-hour Yeti X recording take?
About 11 minutes, at roughly 2 minutes per hour of audio. The upload over a home connection is often the slower half.
What does a quarter of monthly roundtables cost?
Three days of 5.5 hours are 990 minutes, which fits the $12 pack of 2,000. One day alone uses 330 minutes of the $6 pack of 500, and a first visit gets the opening 20 minutes free.
The day's WAV is over 2 GB. What now?
It uploads once a pack is on the account, up to 5 GB or 10 hours. Before that, export the day as an MP3; the words come out the same.
Will quiet voices at the far end be transcribed?
Usually, if they are audible on playback. Seat quieter speakers nearer the microphone, and keep the laptop fan and air conditioning away from it.
Can the discussion be in another language?
Yes. 99 languages are detected automatically, and a group that mixes English with another language is detected on its main one.
Which files come back, and is the discussion private?
Each day downloads as TXT, DOCX, SRT, VTT and JSON. Each discussion is transcribed on our own servers and is never used for training. Nothing connects to the Yeti X or its software; you upload the file.
