Transcribe long Buzzsprout episodes straight from the feed.
A two-hour Buzzsprout episode is transcribed in about 4 minutes when you paste the show's RSS feed or upload its MP3. The first 20 minutes are free, one episode uses 120 of the 500 minutes in the $6 pack, and a back catalogue of 60 episodes at 80 minutes fits the $24 pack.
Feed or MP3
Every Buzzsprout episode is already online, so start from the link.
The link route
Buzzsprout publishes each show as an RSS feed so podcast apps can list it. Paste the feed address here, pick the episode, and the audio is fetched for you without a download. If you prefer a file, the episode's MP3 is the published audio and uploads as it is.
MP3 size, worked out
At 128 kbps an MP3 holds 128,000 bits a second, or about 58 MB an hour, so a 2-hour episode is near 115 MB. That is far inside the 2 GB that uploads before a pack and the 5 GB or 10 hours allowed per file. A WAV master of the same episode would be roughly ten times larger, and it still fits.
A back catalogue
Sixty episodes averaging 80 minutes come to 4,800 minutes. The $24 pack of 5,000 minutes covers the lot with 200 left, at $0.29 an audio hour, and it includes API access for anyone scripting the job. A single episode needs only the $6 pack.
Notes for every episode page
Each episode comes back with a brief, timestamped chapters and the names, numbers and dates said on air. The questions the episode answers make a ready FAQ for its page, and the chat finds the minute a guest mentioned a book. Music beds and sound effects are skipped; the conversation is what gets transcribed.
