Transcribe long interview footage from Frame.io so the edit starts from text, not scrubbing.
To transcribe a long interview that sits in Frame.io, download the asset (or an audio-only export from your editing software) and upload it here; a 2-hour interview is text in about 4 minutes. Six 90-minute interviews, 540 minutes, fit the $12 pack of 2,000 minutes, and a single file can run to 10 hours or 5 GB.
From review link to paper edit
The footage is uploaded for review. The producer still needs every answer in writing.
Can you download it?
Whether a Frame.io asset can be downloaded depends on what the person who shared it allowed. If the download option is there, it is usually in the asset's menu; if not, ask the sender to enable downloads or to send the file another way. A review link on its own is not a link WhipScribe can fetch.
Camera originals are heavy
Professional camera files can run to tens of gigabytes an hour, far past 5 GB. For transcription only the sound matters, so export the interview's audio as a WAV or M4A from your editing software, or use a smaller proxy if the share offers one. Two hours of 128 kbps audio is about 115 MB.
Timecode that matches
Timestamps start at zero with the file you upload. If you export audio from the timeline starting at the interview's first frame, the transcript's times line up with your sequence, which makes pulling selects much faster. An upload over 500 MB moves on to the upload page.
A documentary's worth of interviews
Six interviews of 90 minutes come to 540 minutes, just over the $6 pack, so buy the $12 pack of 2,000 minutes and 1,460 minutes stay for the pickups and the second shoot.
Why paper edits run late
Two hours of interview. One good minute. Somewhere.
✗ Scrubbing the review link
Comments on frames, but no words to search.
- Playback at double speed to find a quote
- Assistant editors typing logs by hand
- Camera originals too big for transcription tools
- Selects chosen from memory
- No captions for the review cut
- Waiting days for a typed log
✓ Editing from a transcript
Each interview as text with timestamps to cut from.
- 120 minutes back in about 4 minutes
- Audio exports small enough to upload fast
- Key quotes pulled out in the brief
- Chapters by topic across the interview
- SRT and VTT for the rough cut
- 540 minutes inside the $12 pack

FAQ
Frame.io footage, the questions editors ask.
Does WhipScribe connect to Frame.io?
No. There is no integration, plugin or panel. You download the asset or export its audio and upload that file here; the transcript comes back in your WhipScribe Library.
How long does a 2-hour interview take?
About 4 minutes after upload, since processing runs at roughly 2 minutes per hour of audio. Uploading a large video is often the slow step, which is why an audio export helps.
What does a full shoot cost?
Six 90-minute interviews, 540 minutes, fit the $12 pack of 2,000 minutes. One interview of up to about eight hours fits the $6 pack of 500 minutes. New visitors get the first 20 minutes free.
The camera file is 30 GB. What do I do?
One file can be at most 5 GB or 10 hours, and before your first pack the limit is 2 GB. Export the audio track instead; the words are all in the sound, and the file shrinks to a few hundred megabytes.
Are the speakers named?
Speakers are identified and named in the summary, key quotes and chapters, which is where interviewer and subject usually need telling apart. The transcript lines carry timestamps for cutting.
Is unreleased footage kept private?
Uploads are transcribed on our own servers and never used for training. Delete the file and transcript from your Library once the edit is locked.
