Huawei Recorder app · lectures, meetings and interviews of 1 to 4 hours

Transcribe long recordings from the Huawei Recorder app straight from the phone, no cable needed.

A 3-hour recording from the Huawei Recorder app comes back as searchable text in about 6 minutes, and the $6 pack of 500 minutes covers two of them after the first 20 minutes free. Find the file in the phone's Files app, upload it here as one file of up to 10 hours or 5 GB, and Tagalog, English or Taglish is detected without a setting.

For Huawei phone recordings

The phone did the hard part by recording all three hours. The text makes those hours usable.

Find the file first

Open the Files app and look under internal storage; recordings usually sit in a folder named Sounds or Recordings, depending on the EMUI or HarmonyOS version. The file is usually an M4A, but check the recorder's settings, and if the upload refuses the file, convert it to MP3 first.

Skim the brief, then read the hour you need

The thesis and the takeaways open the result, followed by the questions the recording answers, so a 3-hour class can be skimmed on the ride home before you read the parts that matter.

The people in the room, named

In an interview or a meeting, the people in the room are named in the summary, the key quotes and the chapters, so you can see whose point each takeaway came from.

Bigger files from a laptop

If Huawei Share or a USB cable puts the recording on a computer, send it through the upload page; a long video shot with the camera app goes the same way.

Why the recording sits unused

A long voice recording on a phone is easy to make and hard to go back to.

✗ Leaving it in the Recorder app

The app keeps the audio safe, but finding one sentence means dragging a seek bar across hours with your thumb.

  • Scrubbing a 3-hour file on a small screen
  • No search for a name or a number
  • Files named only by date and time
  • Notes typed by hand from playback
  • Taglish that English-only tools stumble over
  • Recordings that fill the phone and get deleted unread

✓ The same file here

Uploaded once, the recording becomes a document you can search, quote and keep after the audio is gone from the phone.

  • A brief that opens with the thesis
  • Chapters with titles and times
  • Names, numbers and dates said aloud, listed
  • A chat that answers questions from the transcript
  • Two 3-hour files on the $6 pack
  • DOCX for a reviewer or a report

FAQ

Huawei Recorder files, answered.

How long does a 3-hour Recorder file take?

About 6 minutes once the upload finishes, since processing runs at roughly 2 minutes per hour of audio. On a slow mobile connection the upload itself can take longer than the transcription, so Wi-Fi helps with a big file.

What do a few long recordings cost?

A 3-hour recording uses 180 minutes. The first 20 minutes are free, and the $6 pack of 500 minutes covers two such recordings with 140 minutes to spare. Fifteen 2-hour classes add up to 1,800 minutes and fit the $12 pack of 2,000 minutes, and a heavier term goes on the $24 pack of 5,000 minutes.

How large is a long Recorder file?

Audio is small. If the recorder saved at 128 kbps, one hour is 128,000 bits per second times 3,600 seconds divided by 8, about 58 MB, so a 4-hour recording stays near 230 MB. Each file may run to 10 hours or 5 GB, whichever comes first, and uploads before a first pack stop at 2 GB.

The app split my session into several files. Do I join them?

No need. Upload each piece as its own recording, since minutes are counted per file. If you would rather have one document, any audio editor can join the pieces before upload, as long as the result stays under 10 hours.

Which languages come through?

Tagalog, Filipino and English are detected automatically, and switches between English and Tagalog in one recording are handled. Cebuano, Ilocano, Hiligaynon, Waray, Bikol and Kapampangan are supported, though their accuracy trails the major languages: treat that output as a fast first draft and plan one review pass.

Is there a Huawei plugin, and who sees the audio?

There is no integration, plugin or bot inside the Huawei app; WhipScribe works on the file after you upload it. Recordings are transcribed on our own servers and are never used for training, and the text exports as TXT, DOCX, SRT, VTT or JSON.
