Transcribe a long Insta360 recording once it is a flat video.
An Insta360 camera saves 360 video as .insv files, which a transcription upload cannot read, so export a flat MP4 in Insta360 Studio or the Insta360 app and upload that. A 90-minute walkthrough or meeting takes about 3 minutes, the first 20 minutes are free, and a $6 pack of 500 minutes covers the other 70.
From 360 to text
The camera saw every direction; the transcript keeps every word.
Export before you upload
The .insv file holds the raw 360 image and needs Insta360's own software to become ordinary video. In Insta360 Studio on a computer, the export lands in the folder you set in the export dialog; from the phone app, it is saved to the phone's photo library. Either result is an MP4 this page accepts.
Export small; the words do not care
Resolution and framing make no difference to a transcript, because only the sound is read. A 1080p export is far lighter than the full-resolution source, which keeps a long recording under the 2 GB that uploads before a pack. If the file is still over 500 MB, use upload page.
One export for a long session
Export the whole recording as one MP4 rather than several highlight clips. Up to 10 hours or 5 GB travels as a single file and comes back as one transcript, so a timestamp in the text matches the same moment in the exported video.
What a 360 recording gives back
A room walkthrough, a meeting filmed from the middle of the table or a guided tour returns with a brief, chapters with timestamps, and the figures and dates people mentioned. Speakers are named in the summary, key quotes and chapters, which helps when the camera sat among several voices.
Why 360 footage trips up transcription
An unusual file format, huge source files and tools sized for short clips.
✗ Where it goes wrong
Most tools never see the speech in an Insta360 recording because they cannot open the file or cannot take its size.
- An .insv file no upload form recognises
- Full-resolution exports measured in gigabytes
- Several highlight clips instead of the whole session
- A 25 MB API limit for a 90-minute talk
- Scrubbing a 360 timeline for one sentence
- A monthly plan for a single shoot
✓ Flat export, one upload
Export once at a modest resolution, upload once, and the speech returns with timestamps that match the video.
- MP4 from Insta360 Studio or the app
- Ninety minutes read in about 3
- Low-resolution exports that upload fast
- A $6 pack of 500 minutes, no renewal
- Chapters that point into the export
- Captions that fit the flat video

FAQ
Insta360 recordings, the common questions.
How long does an Insta360 recording take to transcribe?
About 2 minutes per hour of audio once the flat MP4 is uploaded, so 90 minutes is ready in around 3. The export in Insta360's software takes its own time, and that depends on your computer or phone.
What does a long 360 recording cost?
Ninety minutes is 90 minutes of credit. A first-time visitor gets 20 free, and the other 70 come from a $6 pack of 500, leaving 430 for later shoots. A run of eight two-hour sessions, 960 minutes, fits the $12 pack of 2,000.
Can I upload the .insv file directly?
No. Export a flat MP4 first in Insta360 Studio or the Insta360 app. If you only want the sound, any video editor can save the export's audio as MP3, which makes the upload smaller still.
How large can the exported MP4 be?
Up to 2 GB before your first pack, and up to 5 GB or 10 hours, whichever comes first, once a pack is on the account. Exporting at a lower resolution is the simplest way to stay under the first line.
What if the recording runs past 10 hours?
Export it as two files, split at a natural pause, and upload both. Each comes back as its own transcript with its own timeline.
Which languages and downloads, and is the footage private?
99 languages, detected automatically, and downloads as TXT, DOCX, SRT, VTT and JSON. Recordings are transcribed on our own servers and are never used for training, and you decide when a file and its text are deleted.
