Why the link has to be opened by you
A MEGA link carries the key that decrypts the file, and the decryption happens in your browser or the MEGA app. That is the point of MEGA, and it also means WhipScribe cannot fetch the audio from the link. Open it, download, and upload the decrypted copy that lands on your device.
Very large downloads
For multi-gigabyte files, the browser may suggest the MEGA desktop app, which handles long downloads more reliably. On a free account, large downloads can pause when a transfer allowance runs out and resume later. Start the download early and let it finish before you begin the upload.
When the video is too big
A six-hour video at 1.5 Mbps is about 4 GB (1.5 megabits × 21,600 seconds ÷ 8), inside the 5 GB limit once a pack is on the account. Above 5 GB, extract the audio track: the same six hours as 128 kbps MP3 is about 346 MB. Smaller audio files also go up faster from the box above or the upload page.
What comes back after six hours
The brief opens with the thesis and the takeaways, then chapters with timestamps, the names, amounts and dates mentioned, and the questions the recording answers. You can chat with the transcript to find a passage, and the speakers are identified and named in the summary, key quotes and chapters.

How long will a six-hour file from MEGA take?
After the upload, about 12 minutes, since transcription runs near 2 minutes per audio hour. A large video often takes longer to download and upload than to transcribe.
What does it cost to transcribe a folder of long videos?

Can WhipScribe open my MEGA link directly?
No. MEGA links are decrypted on your device, and WhipScribe does not fetch them. The links it fetches are YouTube, Vimeo, Twitch, Kick, Google Drive and podcast feeds; everything else is downloaded and uploaded.
My file is 4 GB. Will it go up?
Yes, once a pack is on your account, because files over 2 GB start after the first pack. The ceiling is 5 GB or 10 hours per file, and a longer recording goes in as two files.
What languages can the recording be in?
Any of 99 languages, detected automatically. A panel that switches between English and another language is detected on the main one, with the switches handled.
Is my recording private once it leaves MEGA?
A file brought over from MEGA is transcribed on our own servers and is never used for training. You can delete the file and its transcript when you are finished, after downloading TXT, DOCX, SRT, VTT or JSON.
