Transcribe recordings from a moot courtroom rounds, submissions and bench questions.
A 90-minute moot round recorded in a law school's moot courtroom comes back as text in about 3 minutes, at roughly 2 minutes per hour of audio. The opening minutes are a free preview, and a squad's twenty practice rounds, 1,800 minutes, fit the $18 pack of 3,000.
How moot courtrooms record
A bench, two counsel tables, a lectern and a camera on the back wall: the round is recorded so the speakers can watch themselves fail and improve.
What the room captures
Most moot courtrooms are built to look like a real court and record like a lecture theatre. A ceiling or wall camera feeds the school's lecture capture system, and a lectern microphone picks up counsel while a boundary mic on the bench catches the judges. Where nothing is installed, a phone on the lectern facing the bench records a clear round. Virtual rounds held on Zoom or Teams save their own file.
Getting the round to us
Download the round from the capture system or the video call, usually as an MP4, and drop it in the box on this page if it is under 500 MB. A full day of rounds filmed in high definition can run to a few gigabytes; that continues on upload page, up to 10 hours or 5 GB per file. A round the team posted to YouTube or Vimeo goes in as a link.
Back as a structured round
The round returns with a brief that sets out each side's case and the points the bench pressed hardest, chapters at the start of each submission and each run of questions, the authorities, figures and dates counsel cited aloud, the questions the round answered, and a chat over the text. Counsel and judges are identified and named in the summary, key quotes and chapters.
A season, priced
Twenty practice rounds of 90 minutes come to 1,800 minutes, inside the $18 pack of 3,000. Packs start at $4 for 300 minutes, and credits never expire.
Why moot feedback gets lost
The coach saw the round once, the speaker remembers it differently, and the recording sits on a server nobody opens.
✗ Feedback from memory
Notes scribbled during the round and a video that takes ninety minutes to watch again.
- The bench's best question half remembered
- Counsel unsure which answer went wrong
- Whole evenings spent scrubbing through video
- Rebuttal points lost between rounds
- Free tools that stop after the first speaker
- No record of how a speaker improved
✓ Feedback from the text
Upload the round and work through the transcript with timestamps.
- Each submission as its own chapter
- Bench questions found by search
- Cited cases and figures listed
- Speakers named in the summary
- Clips located by timestamp
- A season of rounds on one pack

FAQ
Moot courtroom recordings, answered.
How long does a moot round take to transcribe?
About 2 minutes per hour of audio. A 90-minute round is ready in roughly 3 minutes, and a three-hour advocacy workshop in about 6.
What does one round cost?
On a first visit the opening minutes are a free preview. Packs start at $4 for 300 minutes. Packs are one-time purchases and the minutes never expire.
Can the transcript be used as a court record?
No. It is an AI transcript to work from, not a certified or official transcript and not legal advice. In a moot that rarely matters: it is there for coaching, feedback and preparing the next round.
How should the round be recorded for the clearest text?
Put a microphone close to the lectern and another near the bench, because judges often speak away from the room's mics. Ask everyone in the round before recording, follow the school's own rules for recording in its rooms, and keep the audience quiet during questions.
A competition weekend is one long file. What then?
Each file can run to 10 hours or 5 GB, so a day of rounds can usually go in whole; a longer recording goes in as two files. Files up to 5 GB start straight away, and a larger video can be split or exported as audio. Six rounds of 90 minutes come to 540 minutes, so the $18 pack of 3,000 is the one to buy.
Is the recording kept private, and which exports are there?
Recordings are transcribed on our own servers and are never used for training. Each round downloads as TXT, DOCX, SRT, VTT and JSON, and you can delete the file and the text whenever you like.
