Transcribe a long Olympus ODMS dictation without adding hours to the typing queue.
To transcribe a long dictation held in Olympus ODMS, save the file out of ODMS, convert the DSS or DS2 to MP3 if the upload refuses it, and upload it here; a five-hour dictation comes back in about 10 minutes. The first 20 minutes are free, and five hours is 300 minutes, which the $6 pack of 500 covers with 200 left over.

The session you dictated, back as a draft with timestamps.
DSS and DS2 first
ODMS stores dictations in the DSS or DS2 formats that Olympus recorders write. Those formats are built to keep files small on a recorder, not to be opened by general audio tools, so a web upload may not read them. If the upload refuses the file, convert it to MP3 first, and check whether your ODMS version offers a format conversion before you reach for a separate converter.
Encrypted dictations
A DS2 recorded with encryption switched on needs its password before it plays anywhere outside ODMS. Decrypt it in ODMS as the author or the authorised typist, then convert and upload the copy. WhipScribe cannot open an encrypted file, and that is how it should be.
The whole session in one file
Long board minutes, an inspection dictated room by room or a day of case notes can go in as one file of up to 10 hours or 5 GB. A converted MP3 of that length stays far below the 2 GB line that applies before a first pack. Send it from the upload page if you would rather use a full-screen upload.
No add-in, no workflow change
Nothing is installed in ODMS and nothing joins your workflow server. Routing, priorities and typist assignments stay as they are; WhipScribe sees only the converted file you choose to send and returns a brief, timestamped chapters and the figures that were spoken.
What slows an ODMS backlog
Compressed files, a busy typist and hours of speech.
✗ The backlog as it is
Long dictations sit at the end of the typing queue because each hour of audio costs several hours of typing.
- DS2 files only ODMS will open
- Encrypted dictations stuck on one PC
- Five-hour sessions left until last
- Rewinding to catch a mumbled clause
- No text to search until it is typed
- Short-file tools that give up early
✓ Text before typing
Convert once and the typist corrects a draft instead of keying every word.
- Five dictated hours back in about 10 minutes
- MP3 conversion only when the upload asks
- $6 for 500 minutes, valid for good
- Chapters that follow the dictated headings
- Every number said, listed with its time
- DOCX for the typist, JSON for systems

FAQ
ODMS dictations, the common questions.
How quickly does a five-hour ODMS dictation come back?
In about 10 minutes, because transcription runs near 2 minutes per audio hour. A public run of 4.94 hours finished in 372 seconds, and the long-files proof page lists it with the others.
What does a month of ODMS dictation cost?
Five hours is 300 minutes on the $6 pack (500 minutes), leaving 200. Twenty-five hours over a month is 1,500 minutes and suits the $12 pack (2,000 minutes). Packs are one-time purchases with no subscription.
Do I have to convert DSS or DS2?
Only if the upload refuses the file. In that case convert a copy to MP3, which keeps the speech intact and is read everywhere, and leave the original in ODMS to be marked finished as usual.
What are the file limits?
Each ODMS file can be up to 10 hours or 5 GB, and up to 2 GB before your first pack. A dictation longer than 10 hours goes in as two parts, split where the author paused.
Can the author dictate in another language?
Yes. 99 languages are recognised automatically, Portuguese, Korean and Hebrew among them, and the brief is written from what was actually said.
Which exports, and is the dictation audio kept private?
The draft downloads as TXT, DOCX, SRT, VTT or JSON. Converted ODMS files are transcribed on our own servers and are never used for training, and you can delete them once the document is filed.
