Transcribe a long Premiere Pro recording from the exported sequence.
To transcribe a long Premiere Pro edit, export the sequence as an H.264 MP4 and upload it here, or export audio only when the video would pass 5 GB. A 4-hour panel edit returns as text in about 8 minutes, the first 20 minutes are free, and the $6 pack of 500 minutes covers all 240 minutes with 260 to spare.
Timeline to transcript
Premiere Pro already has the export you need. Send that file here and keep editing.
Export the sequence, not the project
A .prproj project file holds no audio of its own, so WhipScribe needs a rendered file. Open File, Export, Media (Ctrl or Cmd plus M), choose H.264 as the format, and Premiere writes an MP4 to the location you pick in the export settings.
Audio only when the video is too big
Video size is bitrate times time: 10 Mbps for 3,600 seconds is 36,000 megabits, or 4.5 GB an hour, so a two-hour edit at that rate passes 5 GB. Choose MP3 in the format list instead and a 128 kbps file is about 58 MB per hour, which keeps even a 10-hour sequence near 576 MB.
Captions back into the edit
The SRT and VTT files carry timestamps that line up with the exported sequence, so they can be imported as a caption track and adjusted in Premiere. Chapters with timestamps show where each topic starts before you scrub for a cut.
Long footage made searchable
A brief with the thesis and takeaways, the names, numbers and dates said, and a chat that answers questions such as where the guest mentions the budget. Panelists and guests are named in the summary, the key quotes and the chapters.
Long edits elsewhere
A four-hour sequence is easy to cut and hard to get into text in one piece.
✗ The usual detours
Long edits break into parts before any text appears.
- The OpenAI Whisper API stops at 25 MB a file
- Exporting the sequence in hour-long chunks
- Re-timing captions after joining the parts
- Scrubbing four hours to find one quote
- Typing chapter markers by hand
- Waiting overnight for a long edit
✓ One export, one transcript
The whole sequence goes up once and comes back on one clock.
- MP4 or MP3, as Premiere wrote it
- Roughly 8 minutes for a 4-hour edit
- A sequence of up to 10 hours or 5 GB
- Chapters you can jump through
- The edit's opening 20 minutes at no charge
- SRT and VTT that match the timeline

Illustrative only: these lines were written for this page and do not come from a real edit. The timestamps place them across a 4-hour panel.

FAQ
Premiere Pro recordings, answered.
How long does a 4-hour Premiere Pro export take to transcribe?
Expect about 8 minutes for a 4-hour Premiere export, at roughly 2 minutes per audio hour. For a public benchmark, /proof/long-files lists a 4.94-hour recording completed in 372 seconds.
What does a long edit cost?
On a first visit the opening 20 minutes of the edit are free. A 4-hour panel is 240 minutes on the $6 pack of 500 minutes. A season of ten 90-minute episodes is 900 minutes, which belongs on the $12 pack of 2,000 minutes with 1,100 left.
My export is over 5 GB, or over 2 GB. What now?
Re-export with MP3 as the format; the transcript is made from the speech, so no video is needed. Before the first pack, files up to 2 GB upload, and a file over 2 GB starts once a pack is on the account. Above 10 hours, export the sequence as two files using in and out points.
Do I need a plugin or panel inside Premiere?
No. WhipScribe has no integration with Premiere Pro and nothing installs in it; it reads the rendered export once Premiere has written it. If the edit is already on YouTube or Vimeo, paste that link instead of uploading.
Which languages can the sequence be in?
Any of 99 languages, detected automatically from the audio. An interview that drifts between two languages is read on its main one, with the switches kept.
Which files come back, and who hears my footage?
The edit comes back as TXT, DOCX, SRT, VTT and JSON files. Recordings are transcribed on our own servers and are never used for training, and a file and its text can be deleted whenever you like.
