Transcribe long phone videos recorded with a RØDE VideoMic Me the voice rides inside the video.
A 2-hour video shot on a phone with a RØDE VideoMic Me is back as text in about 4 minutes, whether you upload the video file or paste its YouTube or Vimeo link; one file can run to 10 hours or 5 GB. The first 20 minutes are free on a first visit; four 2-hour videos use 480 of the $6 pack's 500 minutes, and a fifteen-episode series, 1,800 minutes, fits the $12 pack of 2,000.
Mic on the phone, words in the clip
The VideoMic Me feeds the phone's camera app. What you transcribe is the video it saved.
Two ways in
If the video already sits on YouTube, including a live replay, or on Vimeo or Google Drive, paste the link and skip the upload. Otherwise move the clip off the phone, by cable, AirDrop or a cloud folder, and drop it here. The phone's camera usually saves an MP4 or MOV depending on the model; both are ordinary video files.
Phone video gets heavy fast
An hour of phone video is often several gigabytes at 1080p and much more at 4K, so a 2-hour walk-and-talk can pass 5 GB. The box on this page takes 500 MB and bigger files continue on the upload page. If the file is over 5 GB, export just the audio, or a lower-resolution copy, from your editing app; the words are the same.
Long takes on a phone
Storage running out ends a take without warning, and some phones cap a single clip. Check free space before a long shoot, and if the video arrives in several clips, upload them in order or join them in an editor first so the timestamps follow one clock.
What a long video turns into
A brief with the main point and takeaways, chapters with timestamps you can paste into a video description, the names, places and dates mentioned, and the questions the video answers. The people on camera are named in the summary, key quotes and chapters, and SRT or VTT gives captions for the same clip.
Long phone videos without text
Two hours of good footage, and the captions, the description and the clips still start from nothing.
✗ The usual route
The video is posted; the words are not.
- Clips too heavy for small upload boxes
- Auto-captions fixed line by line
- Description chapters guessed from memory
- The best quote found by dragging the playhead
- Several clips with separate clocks
- A series with no index of topics
✓ With WhipScribe
The video becomes text you can publish from.
- A YouTube or Vimeo link, or the file itself
- Two hours back in about 4 minutes
- Timestamped chapters for the description
- SRT and VTT for captions
- First 20 minutes free
- A fifteen-episode series on the $12 pack

FAQ
RØDE VideoMic Me recordings, answered.
How long does a 2-hour VideoMic Me video take?
About 4 minutes, at roughly 2 minutes per hour of audio. A 40-minute clip is back in under 2.
Can I paste the YouTube link instead of uploading?
Yes. YouTube videos and live replays, Vimeo, Google Drive share links and folders, Twitch and Kick VODs, and podcast feeds all go in as links. A video that lives only on another platform needs to be downloaded first, then uploaded.
My video is over 5 GB. What now?
Export the audio, or a smaller copy of the video, from your editing app. A file can be up to 10 hours or 5 GB, and before the first pack the upload limit is 2 GB. A video longer than 10 hours goes in as two files.
What does a series cost?
Fifteen episodes of 2 hours are 1,800 minutes, which fit the $12 pack of 2,000 with 200 left. A single episode fits the $6 pack of 500, with room for three more. Packs are one-time and the minutes never expire.
Does WhipScribe connect to the mic or the camera app?
No. The VideoMic Me is a microphone, and there is no integration, plugin or bot in any phone app. You upload the video or paste its link. Background music and traffic are not transcribed; the speech is.
Which files come back, and who sees the video?
TXT, DOCX, SRT, VTT and JSON. Recordings are transcribed on our own servers and are never used for training.
