Transcribe recordings made in a school auditorium from the first welcome to the last notice.
A recording from a school auditorium, whether a 2-hour speech day, a 90-minute parent evening or a 40-minute assembly, is turned into text at about 2 minutes per hour of audio, so speech day takes about 4 minutes. The first 20 minutes are free, and a full school year of these events, about 1,710 minutes, fits the $12 pack of 2,000 minutes.
How auditorium recordings are made
Most of these events are already recorded by someone in the tech booth. The text is the part that never gets made.
Desk feed, camera or livestream
The cleanest audio comes from the sound desk, where the lectern and radio microphones are mixed. A camera at the back works too, though it hears more of the hall. If the event went out as a YouTube or Vimeo stream, paste that link and skip the download.
Choir and band are skipped
Speech days and prize givings are full of music between the speaking. Songs, instrumental pieces and applause are not transcribed; the welcome, the head's address, citations and the guest speaker are, each starting its own chapter.
The year in minutes
Thirty assemblies of 40 minutes come to 1,200 minutes. Add a 150-minute speech day and four 90-minute parent evenings and the year is 1,710 minutes, which fits the $12 pack of 2,000 with 290 left.
Big video files
A filmed event in high resolution can pass 2 GB. Until a pack is on the account, uploads above 2 GB wait for it; exporting just the audio makes the file much smaller. Any single file can be up to 10 hours or 5 GB.
Why the recording alone is not enough
Parents who missed the evening want the answers, not ninety minutes of video.
✗ A video on the school channel
The event is posted in full and nobody can find the part that matters to them.
- Ninety minutes to find the question about exams
- Auto captions confused by the hall echo
- Award citations nobody wrote down
- A guest speech no one can quote
- Newsletters written from memory
- Families who could not attend left guessing
✓ Readable text for the whole community
Each speech, notice and answer comes back as text with chapters and times.
- About 4 minutes for a 2-hour speech day
- The first 20 minutes free
- Chapters for each address and award
- Dates and deadlines said on stage listed out
- Speakers named in the summary and key quotes
- Captions to post with the video

FAQ
School auditorium recordings: common questions.
How fast does a speech day come back?
About 2 minutes per hour of audio, so a 2-hour speech day is ready in roughly 4 minutes and a 40-minute assembly in under 2.
What does a year of events cost?
Count the minutes. A year of 1,710 minutes fits the $12 pack of 2,000. A single speech day of 150 minutes fits the $6 pack of 500. Minutes do not expire, so leftover time carries into next year.
We streamed it. Do we need the file?
No. Paste the YouTube or Vimeo link, live replays included. A stream recording longer than 6 hours starts once a pack is on the account.
Should we be careful with pupils' names?
Follow your school's own policy on recording and publishing pupils. Keep transcripts that name children inside the school, and check before posting captions that read names aloud.
Does the hall echo matter?
It makes things harder, so a sound-desk feed beats a camera microphone. Speech from the lectern comes through well; music and applause are left out. Ask the person running the desk to record the main mix to a USB stick or a laptop; most desks and interfaces can do that.
Which files come back, and where is the audio processed?
TXT, DOCX, SRT, VTT and JSON from one run, plus a brief, chapters and a chat over the text. Recordings are transcribed on our own servers and are never used for training.
