Transcribe long ScreenFlow recordings hours of Mac screen sessions, read in minutes.
A long ScreenFlow session on a Mac is transcribed by exporting it as an MP4 and uploading that file here. A 6-hour session comes back in about 12 minutes, the first 20 minutes are free, and the $6 pack of 500 minutes covers the 360 minutes with 140 left.
Out of ScreenFlow, into text
ScreenFlow keeps the session as a document. One export turns it into a file the transcript can read.
Export, not the document
A ScreenFlow recording lives in a .screenflow document, which is not a file WhipScribe can open. Use File, Export, choose an H.264 preset, and it writes an MP4 or MOV depending on the preset; check the export settings, then upload the result.
Every audio track, mixed
ScreenFlow can capture your microphone and the computer's audio as separate tracks. The exported video mixes the tracks that are switched on, so unmute the computer audio track first if guests spoke through a call.
Six hours under 5 GB
Screen content at 1.5 Mbps is 1.5 times 21,600 seconds divided by 8, about 4 GB for six hours, which fits a 5 GB file. A higher-quality preset can push past that, and an audio-only export of the same session is a few hundred megabytes.
A long session you can navigate
The brief gives the thesis and takeaways, chapters mark each part of the session, and the names, numbers and dates said are listed. The chat finds the moment you need in six hours of recording. Guests are named in the summary, the key quotes and the chapters when they introduce themselves.
Long Mac sessions elsewhere
Six hours of screen recording is a lot of video and very little you can search.

FAQ
ScreenFlow recordings: questions answered.
How long does a 6-hour ScreenFlow export take?
Close to 12 minutes, since the work runs at about 2 minutes per audio hour. A 9.31-hour file on /proof/long-files finished in 1,033 seconds, so six hours is well inside range.
What does a 6-hour session cost, and a month of them?
The opening 20 minutes are free the first time you come. One 6-hour session is 360 minutes on the $6 pack of 500 minutes. Five such sessions are 1,800 minutes, on the $12 pack of 2,000 minutes.
My export is over 5 GB, or the session runs past 10 hours. What then?
Export audio only or a lighter H.264 preset to get under 5 GB; before a pack, files up to 2 GB upload, and anything larger starts once a pack is on the account. A session longer than 10 hours goes up as two files.
Is there a ScreenFlow plugin?
No. WhipScribe has no integration with ScreenFlow and adds nothing to it; it transcribes the exported MP4 or MOV once it exists. A session already posted to YouTube or Vimeo can be pasted as a link.
Can the session be in another language?
Yes. The language is detected automatically across 99 languages, including Korean, Japanese and Portuguese, with no setting to pick.
Which exports come back, and is the session kept private?
Sessions download as TXT, DOCX, SRT, VTT and JSON. ScreenFlow sessions are transcribed on our own servers and are never used for training.
