Transcribe a Shure MV7 recording the whole session, not just the intro.
A Shure MV7 recording is the file your recording app saved while the mic was plugged in, usually a WAV or an MP3, and WhipScribe transcribes it at about 2 minutes per hour of audio. A two-hour podcast session comes back in roughly 4 minutes, the first 20 minutes are free, and a $6 pack of 500 minutes covers the rest.
From the mic to the page
The MV7 hears the voice. Your app writes the file. We read the file.
The microphone keeps nothing
The MV7 sends sound to a computer or phone and stores no recording itself. Whatever program captured the session, whether a digital audio workstation, an audio editor or a podcast recording app, decides the file type and where it is saved. Look in that program's export or project folder for the finished WAV or MP3.
WAV is large, MP3 is small
Uncompressed audio at 48 kHz, 16-bit stereo, takes roughly 690 MB an hour, so a three-hour session is about 2 GB. The same three hours exported as a 128 kbps MP3 is close to 170 MB. Both upload; a WAV past 2 GB starts once a pack is on the account, and anything above 500 MB goes in from the upload page.
Back before the edit starts
Each audio hour needs about 2 minutes of processing. A 90-minute interview takes about 3 minutes and a three-hour roundtable about 6, which means the text is ready while you are still trimming the intro music.
Notes, quotes and chapters
Each session returns a brief with the thesis and takeaways, chapters with timestamps, the names, numbers and dates mentioned, and the questions the conversation answers. Host and guest are identified and named in the summary, key quotes and chapters, which is most of a show-notes draft.
Where long MV7 sessions get stuck
A clean voice track deserves better than a 30-minute cap.
✗ Tools built for clips
A podcast mic records long conversations, and many transcription tools stop well short of one.

- An API that refuses files over 25 MB
- Splitting a WAV into chunks by hand
- A monthly plan for an occasional episode
- Show notes typed from memory
- Quotes hunted for by scrubbing the timeline
✓ One session, one upload
The whole episode goes in as recorded and comes back on a single clock.
- WAV or MP3 straight from the export folder

FAQ
Shure MV7 recordings, answered.
How long does an MV7 podcast recording take to transcribe?
About 2 minutes for every hour of audio once the upload finishes. A one-hour solo episode is usually ready in about 2 minutes, a two-hour interview in about 4, and you can close the tab while it runs.
What does a two-hour episode cost?
A two-hour episode uses 120 minutes. The first 20 minutes are free on your first recording, and the $6 pack of 500 minutes transcribes the rest with 380 minutes left over. A show that publishes weekly two-hour episodes uses about 520 minutes a month, which the $12 pack of 2,000 minutes covers for close to four months.
My session was saved as a big WAV. Will it upload?
Yes. The ceiling for a single upload is 10 hours or 5 GB. Before the first pack, uploads up to 2 GB start right away, so a stereo WAV over roughly three hours either waits for a pack or can be exported as MP3, which is about a twelfth of the size.
Should I split a long session into parts?
No. Splitting only matters past 10 hours, which a podcast rarely reaches. One file keeps a single timeline, so chapter times match the original edit.
Does it work for shows in other languages?
Yes. 99 languages are detected automatically, so a Spanish, Korean or Portuguese episode needs no setting, and a conversation that switches between English and Tagalog is handled in the same run.
Which formats come back, and is the audio kept private?
Every episode can be saved as TXT, DOCX, SRT, VTT and JSON from a single run. Recordings are transcribed on our own servers and are never used for training, and you can delete the episode and its transcript whenever you like.
