Transcribe recordings from a youth centre programme sessions and meetings.
A two-hour youth council meeting or workshop recorded at a youth centre comes back as text in about 4 minutes. The first 20 minutes are free on a first visit, and a year of monthly two-hour youth council meetings plus a weekly one-hour staff meeting over 40 weeks, 3,840 minutes, fits the $24 pack of 5,000.
How youth centres record
A phone in the middle of a circle of chairs, a laptop on a video call, a podcast club with its own mic: the recordings are real and the write-up is always late.
Phones, laptops and a club mic
Most centres record on whatever is to hand. A phone in the middle of the room catches a youth council meeting well if the music and the pool table are off. Hybrid meetings on Zoom or Teams save a recording you can download. A media or podcast club may have a USB mic or a small recorder, which gives the cleanest audio of all.
Sending the file
Drop a phone recording or a meeting download in the box on this page; anything under 500 MB goes straight in. A long video of a showcase evening may be larger and continues on upload page, up to 10 hours or 5 GB per file. Recordings the centre posted on YouTube, or kept in a Google Drive folder, go in as a link.
What comes back
Each recording returns a brief with the main ideas and decisions, chapters for each agenda point or activity, the dates, numbers and names mentioned, the questions the session answered, and a chat to ask what was agreed. Youth workers and members are identified and named in the summary, key quotes and chapters when they introduce themselves or are called on.
A programme year, priced
Twelve youth council meetings of two hours are 1,440 minutes, and 40 weekly staff meetings of an hour are 2,400. Together that is 3,840 minutes, which the $24 pack of 5,000 covers with 1,160 left. A summer programme of eight 90-minute sessions, 720 minutes, fits the $12 pack of 2,000 on its own.
Why youth voice goes missing
Young people said something important in the session, and the funder report quotes the staff instead.
✗ Notes taken while facilitating
One worker runs the session and tries to write everything down at the same time.
- Young people's own words lost
- Decisions remembered differently
- Reports written days later
- Recordings left on a phone
- Free tools that stop after an hour
- Consultation evidence hard to show
✓ Notes drawn from the transcript
Record the session, upload it afterwards and quote it accurately.
- Agenda points as chapters
- Decisions listed in the brief
- Speakers named in the summary
- Quotes found by timestamp
- DOCX for funder reports
- A year of meetings on $24

FAQ
Youth centre recordings, answered.
How long does a two-hour session take to transcribe?
About 2 minutes per hour of audio, so two hours are ready in roughly 4 minutes and a 90-minute workshop in about 3.
What does one consultation evening cost?
On a first visit the first 20 minutes are free. A two-hour evening then needs 100 more minutes, which come from the $6 pack of 500 and leave 400 for the next few meetings. Packs are one-time, with no subscription, and minutes never expire.
What about consent when we record young people?
Ask everyone in the room before recording and follow your centre's safeguarding policy, which may require permission from a parent or guardian for younger members. Avoid recording one-to-one support conversations, and keep personal details out of what you share.
The room was noisy. Will the transcript still work?
Speech is transcribed; music, games and crowd noise are not. Put the phone near the people talking, turn the music off for the meeting part, and ask people to speak one at a time when a decision is made.
Some sessions are in more than one language.
99 languages are detected automatically, and a recording that switches language is detected on its main language. English words used inside another language are handled.
Is the recording private, and what can we download?
Recordings are transcribed on our own servers and are never used for training. Each session downloads as TXT, DOCX, SRT, VTT and JSON. Files over 2 GB start once a pack is on the account, and anything longer than 10 hours goes in as two files.
